Introduction:
We are seeking a Manager Associate to function as a Finance Manager / Controller with extensive expertise in managing municipal financial operations. This pivotal role involves overseeing the City's financial processes to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. The successful candidate will act as a supervisor to the finance team and contribute to various professional services related to financial management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate the City’s financial processes, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Supervise and lead the finance team, defining roles and responsibilities to enhance productivity and ensure accountability.
- Prepare and oversee financial reporting to provide clear, accurate financial statements and insights to stakeholders.
- Engage in risk management practices to identify, evaluate, and mitigate financial risks affecting the City.
- Maintain effective communication and engagement with stakeholders, including representing the City in matters related to state and federal legislation.
- Provide financial leadership and strategic advice to support the City’s objectives and financial health.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in financial management within a public sector or municipal environment.
- Strong understanding of local, state, and federal compliance requirements and financial reporting standards.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with experience managing a finance team.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with stakeholders and representing the City in various forums.
- Ability to work independently and make decisions that align with the City’s financial and operational goals.
- Skilled in risk management and the ability to foresee financial challenges and propose effective solutions.
This position is ideal for a detail-oriented financial professional who is committed to upholding high standards of financial integrity and transparency, ensuring that the City’s financial operations support its broader objectives.
Preferred to have a certification as either a CPA, CGFO or CGFM.
