General Information
Work Location: 2101 47th Terrace East, Bradenton, Florida 34203
Work Hours: Monday to Friday: 8am-5pm, occasional after-hours and weekend work may be required.
Plans, coordinates, implements, and assesses health education programs, events, and activities to maximize individuals, families, and communities' health, well-being, and self-sufficiency by providing the necessary knowledge, information, encouragement, resources, and support. Collects and analyzes data to identify community needs before planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating programs encouraging healthy lifestyles, policies, and decisions. Serves as a resource to provide leadership, technical assistance, and guidance on evidence-based strategies within the County.
Working Conditions
Indoor/office environment: Lifting equipment to 25 lbs. alone up to 50 lbs. with assistance. Position requires visual acuity, depth perception, and hearing and identifying sounds.
Periodically required to work other than normal business hours while conducting outreach or educational programs in the evenings and on weekends. Required to attend meetings and presentations at various locations to collaborate with other agencies, advocacy groups, and other community stakeholders involved in supporting the County's homeless response, healthcare system, and substance use recovery initiatives.
During an emergency or crisis, such as hurricanes or floods, you will be expected to respond and carry out recovery responsibilities as assigned by your immediate supervisor. All employees are required to contribute before, during, and after emergencies. In such instances, you might temporarily undertake tasks beyond the usual scope of your role, location, and work schedule, all geared toward meeting the needs of the County and its residents.
Job Description
Essential Functions

Plans and coordinates educational programs for the public regarding area of assignment, stakeholder partnerships, and general objectives.
Presents information in an interpretive, hands-on manner designed to engage participants in a fun and inclusive atmosphere while communicating accurate information.
Creates and implements an outreach and education plan throughout the County.
Builds successful partnerships and effective working relationships with government, private sector, and non-profit organizations, representing area of assignment, and Manatee County in a proactive, professional manner.
Develops and maintains event schedules, and coordinates with vendors.
Identifies and participates in community outreach opportunities such as fairs, festivals, local markets, and organizations.
Plans, coordinates, and leads educational programs for the general public regarding area of assignment, stakeholder partnerships, and community health objectives.
Creates education materials and campaigns in partnership with internal and external stakeholders.
Maintains knowledge and understanding of current best practices, trends, laws, and issues affecting an area of expertise.
Upon approval, attends educational events that will increase professional knowledge and otherwise benefit the County.
Collects, maintains, and shares program-related metrics and outcomes to ensure compliance with applicable funding sources.
Drafts social media posts and other community-facing marketing and educational materials.
Performs related work (weather or other extreme emergency duties) as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in public health, social work, public administration, healthcare, or related field.
Two (2) or more years of job-related experience.
A valid driver's license is required, with a valid Florida driver's license required within 30 days of hire.
Preferred experience with substance use disorder prevention and response, crisis intervention, mental health first aid, compassion fatigue, clinical settings, public health, emergency response, case management, etc.
A comparable combination of work experience and training may be substituted for education requirements.
