Job Description
The Business Unit Controller (BU Controller) provides thorough analysis to assist management in decision making or other financial initiatives. They are responsible for identifying existing business trends and monitoring variances over time. Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. The BU Controller manages the finance and administrative organization of a Business Unit. As a strong business partner and point of contact, they assist the Business Unit with daily administrative and finance tasks. They manage the reporting on time and consistently analyze the financial health of the Business Unit. They report regularly to the Corporate Controller of the company and follow the global financial framework and deadlines of the company.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Analyzes financial performance, monitoring variances, identifying trends, and recommending actions to management.
- Assist project managers in activities concerned with the reporting and control of the construction process; contract amounts, work orders, change orders.
- Establishing a system of internal controls.
- Interacts with the project manager and/or business unit manager for managing objectives, goals, and performance as well as working with the estimating department.
- Prepares construction budget tracking reports to show cost to date vs. original budget.
Job Responsibilities Overview:
- Financial Management of the BU
- Define and review with the Corporate Controller the timeline of the BU financial reporting.
- Prepare the quantitative budget of the BU.
- Produce and analyze the financial reporting of the BU.
- Prepare the quarterly forecast of the BU.
- Monitor the overheads and manpower costs of the BU.
- Monitor the capital expenditure budget.
- Project follow-up
- Guarantee the project management in the ERP system.
- Support the Project Manager during the lifecycle of the project and especially during the estimate to completion review.
- Alert the Project Manager and Business Unit Manager to any project variation.
Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Construction Management, Project Management, or Engineering and four (4) years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in the industrial construction industry is strongly preferred.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of project controls principles relating to budgeting, scheduling, tracking of actual/committed costs, change control and forecasting, and financial principles.
- Must be able to develop and maintain positive, cooperative, team-oriented relationships with co-workers, supervisors, managers, and clients.
- Ability to function and work independently.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
