Job Summary
NPI is currently seeking a Tool & Die Technician to perform basic setup and/or maintenance of tooling and equipment in order to support manufacturing. After a production order is complete, responsible for cleaning the tools, visually inspecting the tooling for any damage, communicating any tooling issues.
Assemble, repair, rebuild, maintain, clean and storage of tooling components for die cast and other tooling applications. Inspect and verify tooling components using precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, indicators, and gages. Operates alternately more than one type of machine tool such as surface grinders, mills, drill presses, lathes, etc. on machining operations of moderate complexity
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Disassemble tooling components.
  • Accurate tooling assembly.
  • Carefully inspects and evaluates tooling components.
  • Inspection of mechanical components on various machines.
  • Efficiently clean and store tooling components.
  • Systematically evaluates damage to tooling components.
  • Surface grinding and setup.
  • Milling setup and locating.
  • Maintaining a clean and orderly work environment.
  • May have varied responsibilities and tasks. Other duties as assigned.
  • Must comply with the company procedures and work instructions.
  • Perform work in a safe and environmentally conscientious manner according to company policy.
Qualifications
Skills and Qualifications
  • Knowledge of mechanical assemblies and their functions related to assembly, repair.
  • Ability to use precision measuring equipment to inspect / verify tooling components, such as micrometers, calipers, indicators and gages.
  • Limited knowledge of Blue Print reading.
  • Working knowledge with surface grinders and various hand tools. Ability to use many types of precision measuring instruments.
  • Ability to be on your feet up to eight hours per day.
  • Ability to routinely lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to use shop mathematics.
  • Ability to learn general computer skills.
Education
  • High School Diploma. GED, or higher preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Tool and Die Technician preferred
Hourly or Salary Range: $ 26.00-$32.00
