Senior Manufacturing Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join our client’s team in the North Chicago area. This role is focused on capital expenditure (cap ex) projects, equipment upgrades, and process automation. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading engineering initiatives that improve efficiency, enhance production capabilities, and drive automation across manufacturing processes.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead cap ex projects from planning through implementation, ensuring timelines, budgets, and specifications are met.

• Oversee the design, installation, and upgrading of manufacturing equipment to enhance production efficiency and output.

• Drive the automation of processes to streamline operations, reduce manual labor, and improve product consistency.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, maintenance, and design engineering, to identify areas for equipment improvement or process enhancement.

• Perform equipment validations, testing, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance.

• Evaluate and manage vendor proposals for equipment purchases, ensuring alignment with company needs and budget.

• Develop and implement solutions for continuous process improvement and waste reduction.

• Create and maintain accurate documentation, including BOMs, process flows, and equipment specifications.

• Participate in project risk assessments, identifying potential issues and developing mitigation strategies.

• Provide leadership and direction to small project teams or technicians involved in equipment installation and upgrades.


REQUIREMENTS:

• A master’s degree in engineering with 5 years of relevant experience, or a bachelor's degree in engineering with 8 years of relevant experience.

• Proven experience managing cap ex projects and leading equipment upgrades or process automation initiatives.

• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and the ability to troubleshoot and optimize equipment performance.

• Familiarity with Lean methodologies and continuous improvement practices is a plus.
