This position seeks a diverse tax and business consulting background with a focus in providing state and local tax and consulting services to our clients.How you will contributeUtilize technical skills to assist clients with state and local tax consulting engagements, including structuring, audit defense, and bankruptcy related matters.Research technical issues, draft memoranda, and prepare Excel models.Manage client engagements, including budgets, staffing, project workflow, and billing.Supervise Associates and Senior Associates and provide on-the-job training.Build and maintain lasting client and team relationships.Lead preparation, detailed discussion, and follow through in client and internal stakeholder meetings.Manage risk, resources, staffing and financial performance for multiple engagements at once including billing, collections and project budgetsLead client calls to understand critical areas of importance and apply tax technical knowledge to specific client situationsWork as part of a multidisciplinary team and clearly communicate work plan, project objectives, and timelinesBuild client relationships and demonstrate a working knowledge of client businessesSupervise, develop, mentor, and motivate our Associates, Senior Associates and Managers by actively participating in their advancement through on-the-job training, providing performance feedback, counseling, and fostering our team-based atmosphereManage workload and deadlines for Associates, Senior Associates, and Managers with a focus on quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of the project teamDemonstrate commitment and desired behaviors while working with others that have diverse experiences, skills and perspectivesConduct day-to-day management of accounts to ensure delivery of timely and accurate work productRegularly supports business development efforts. Click to learn more about why AandM is a great place work.QualificationsLicensed CPA or Licensed Attorney6 years of tax consulting experience5 years of State and Local Tax experience required, specifically Income/FranchiseIntermediate to Advanced Microsoft Office products skills, with emphasis on Excel and PowerPointDemonstrated success as a trusted tax and business advisor: building relationships, identifying and addressing client needs, and delivering high quality deliverablesPassion for training and mentoring staffExcellent verbal and written skills, with the ability to establish credibility and influence clientsExcellent research, writing, and analytical skillsAbility to simultaneously work on several projects and effectively manage deadlinesHigh motivation to learn and grow and actively identifies trends and new ideas for enhancing solutions and approachesDetail-oriented and possess strong organizational skillsRegular employees working 30 or more hours per week are also entitled to participate in Alvarez and Marsal Holdings' fringe benefits consisting of healthcare plans, flexible spending and savings accounts, life, ADandD, and disability coverages at rates determined from time to time as well as a 401(k) retirement plan. In addition, AandM offers a discretionary bonus program which is based on a number of factors, including individual and firm performance.
