JOB SUMMARY

This position will work across the organization to foster continuous improvement for long-term success. The primary function of this position will be to define and develop new and enhanced solutions for approaches to delivering production services, test and optimize the functionality of equipment and define technical requirements as well as ensure that production lines are commissioned, built, and maintained according to Gestamp Automotive Systems and regulatory safety standard. This position will support production and maintenance to minimize downtime and seek continuous improvement activities to improve plant operation.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Ensure that production lines are commissioned, built and maintained according to Gestamp Automotive Systems and regulatory safety standards.

2. Prepare technical reports on the production line performance for peers and management; Record completed tasks/projects.

3. Serve as the point of contact for other maintenance personnel and Multi-Craft Technicians.

4. Provide documentation of completed tasks in the Daily Shift Log

5. Evaluate the effectiveness of optimization and corrective actions on the production lines.

6. Be responsible for company owned equipment and use in a correct and proper manner.

7. Other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

1. Requires associate degree or equivalent technical education, specifically electrical/electronics.

2. Successful completion of a formalized Electronics Apprenticeship Program preferred.

3. Three years’ experience in a Controls role preferred.

4. Automotive industry experience preferred.

5. Work experience, in construction, buyoff and run projects.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Possess the following attributes and characteristics at a Mastery Level

  • Electrical and Electronic knowledge
  • High level programming skills on Robots, PLC, and HMI (preferably Beckhoff TwinCat, Siemens S7 and Win CC,Rockwell RS Logix5000, Factory Talk View, PILS, KUKA)
  • Extensive knowledge in selection of field bus of various kinds (Ethernet/IP, EtherCat, Profibus, Interbus, etc.).
  • Programming and troubleshooting of various drives.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage a project.
  • Planning, documentation and part selection skills
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and develop solutions to complex technical issues.
  • Computer skills in software and hardware component level
  • Good written and presentation skills; comfortable presenting to small groups as well as one-on-one
  • Excellent multi-task skills; able to prioritize accordingly.
