Plant Cost Accountant - Salary, Exempt $75,000-$96,000
POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Plant Manager, this position is responsible for performing production entry/reconciliation activities; analyzing manufacturing variances; assisting with inventory and inventory control; compiling statistical/analytical reports for Basalite's Management Team; supervising the Production Office's 'Purchasing/Receiving Coordinator'; and supporting and demonstrating the Core Values of Integrity, Safety, Respect, Customer Focus, Quality, Innovation and Financial Success. Performs other related duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Manages production order activities, including raw material consumption and product to stock postings.
- Analyzes actual-to-standard variances and reports differences to management along with recommendations for standard and/or cost saving process changes.
- Understands product costing concepts and processes, including creating and maintaining bills of material and routings.
- Prepares and uploads changes associated with yearly standard revisions.
- Compiles statistical/analytical reports for management.
- Responsible for month end close activities, including but not limited to:
- Production order activity reconciliation
- Utility accruals
- Temporary labor accruals
- Communication of plant expenses and open purchase orders
- Preparation of 'Maintenance and Molds Spending' analyses and spreadsheets used to establish accruals.
- Participates in the generation of location's operations report, focusing on production-related departments and their manufacturing variances.
- Supervises Production Office's 'Purchasing/Receiving Coordinator', providing back-up as required.
- Works with location's HR Coordinator on recruiting, talent selection, hiring and training of staff for area of responsibility.
- Acts as payroll backup - completes daily audit reports and makes necessary corrections in the payroll system and collects any necessary payroll forms.
- Coaches, trains, instructs, and offers guidance to all subordinates.
- Performs annual reviews for direct reports and engages in employee development and discipline as applicable.
- Responsible for reviewing time and attendance for all direct reports via Daily Audit Report.
- Performs weekly and monthly internal control audits to ensure that purchase order processing and invoice payments are compliant with protocol and policy.
- Reviews cost center and internal order reports on a weekly basis for accuracy.
- Oversees quarterly GR/IR review and communicates 'required action' to subsidiary staff.
- Coordinates and assists with monthly inventory cycle counts; participates in biannual 'full-yard' inventory.
- Assists local management, operational staff and Subsidiary Finance department as needed.
- Assists with off-site location audits. May involve driving a personal vehicle.
- Attends safety meetings and abides by all safety rules set forth by the company and governmental regulatory agencies; ensures that hazardous conditions are reported and corrected.
- Performs all other duties and responsibilities assigned from time to time by the company or its designated representative.
- Regular and Predictable attendance is required.
- Appropriate four-year degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration and/or equivalent experience preferred.
- Excellent knowledge of financial accounting principles and concepts to perform tasks listed under essential duties and responsibilities.
- Must be able to work in a team environment to enable effective interaction and the ability to motivate team members including peers.
- Ability to set and meet deadlines and to manage multiple tasks to completion at the same time.
- Working skills with Microsoft Excel, Word and Microsoft Access and automated accounting systems (SAP experience preferred).
- Good organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to operate a personal computer, 10-key adding machine and other various standard office machines and equipment necessary to complete duties.
- Valid driver's license is required.
- Regular and Predictable attendance is required.
