Job Overview

We are currently seeking a dynamic, highly motivated, and experienced individual for the position of Associate Director, Medical and Scientific Communications. The Associate Director will provide oversight for scientific communications and publications, overseeing the project review process, developing and updating internal reports, and coordinating projects.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Provides vendor management timeline and communication oversight for publication projects (abstracts, posters, oral presentations, and manuscripts) for assigned compounds or indications.
  2. Monitors and ensures compliance with corporate policies and procedures, external guidelines, regulatory bodies such as FDA and ICMJE guidelines, project-specific society or journal guidelines, and local or regional laws.
  3. Leads review and approval of scientific publishing projects and works with the Publications Coordinator utilizing document management software.
  4. Works with the publication planning team to develop and execute publication plan.
  5. Oversees the ongoing management and training of the Scientific Platform and Lexicon for assigned compound.
  6. Oversees contract development and management, including budgeting responsibilities.
  7. Develops and maintains relationships with external authors through engagement with ongoing publication activities.
  8. Establishes, maintains, and expands business relationships with all functional areas collaborating on projects.
  9. Provides strategic and tactical support necessary to achieve execution of projects.
  10. Holds self and team members accountable to agreed-upon project dates.
  11. Oversees congress planning activities and manages associated vendor.

Key Core Competencies

  1. Project management training.
  2. Experience with PMSolutions or datavision, electronic project management software, or database management.
  3. Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  4. Flexible, with a positive attitude, strong ability to multi-task.
  5. Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
  6. Ability to identify key issues; creatively and strategically overcome challenges.

Education and Experience

  1. Minimum 3-5 years of pharmaceutical industry-based publication planning and execution experience required.
  2. Previous medical communications agency or pharmaceutical experience required.
  3. Experience in project management.
  4. Experience with scientific peer-reviewed publications and global medical communications.
  5. Experience in congress planning activities.
  6. Experience in vendor management.

The base salary range for this role is $149,900 to $187,400. Our robust time-off policy includes unlimited paid time off, 11 paid holidays, and additional time off for a shut-down period during the last week of December.
