Overview
Kamatics , a divison of Kaman that speicalizes in self-lubricating bearings and engineered products, is looking for a Machinist trainee who can work 2nd shift in our Bloomfield, CT office. The core hours for the position are 3:30 PM - 12:00 AM and we are currently running one hour of mandatory overtime, at the beginning of the shift for a required 45 hours a week. Overttime pay is 1.5x the hourly rate for all hours in excess of 40 hours in a week. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Under direct supervision, assist with the set up, operation, and adjustment of various types of conventional or automatic machines including lathes, drill presses, grinders, and other precision equipment.
- Work from drawings and written instructions to create replacement and new parts in making repairs to metal parts as well as for experimental apparatus or prototype equipment. Work is routine and machining is performed to ordinary tolerances.
- Requires basic knowledge of various metals and of measurements used in machining processes.
Qualifications
Education:
- High School diploma/GED
- Machining Training Certificate preferred
Experience:
- Some exposure to machining
Skills / Knowledge
- Understanding of Common GD&T restraints such as runout, concentricity, and Parallelism
- Proficient in use of shop math
- Limited technical supervision
- Requires knowledge of machining techniques such as cutting jaws, touching tools off and tramming fixtures
- Familiarity with computer numerically controlled machine tool operating procedures such as dry run, geometry and wear offsets, MDI functions and basic G codes
