As a senior life underwriter at Level20, you'll focus on Progressive Life, a term life insurance provider whose vision is to make the process of purchasing life insurance easy and accessible (learn more at progressivelife.com). In this role, you’ll be instrumental in the development and refinement of underwriting processes while assessing business risks of guideline changes. You’ll partner with various internal stakeholders to ensure efficient client service and focus on continuous development of underwriting rules and manuals for current and future products. Additionally, you’ll integrate new data sources and models, enhance automated underwriting systems and apply risk-based decision-making to determine appropriate requirements and risk classes for policy applicants. Your contributions will be crucial in driving innovation and ensuring the success of Progressive Life’s underwriting operations.

Must-have qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED equivalent or higher and a minimum of eight years underwriting experience with a direct US life insurance company or a US life reinsurance company
  • {OR} Bachelor's degree or higher and a minimum of five years underwriting experience with a direct US life insurance company or a US life reinsurance company

Preferred skills

  • In-depth knowledge of underwriting systems and workflows, including proficiency with rules engines and rules management
  • Strong medical knowledge and basic understanding of medical terminology, with the ability to review medical records to make accurate underwriting assessments using appropriate guidelines
  • Ability to work effectively in an Agile environment, adapting quickly to changes and ensuring efficient collaboration
  • Proficiency in processing various underwriting reports, queries and reinsurance programs
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to handle confidential information

Compensation

  • $80,000- $105,000/year
  • Gainshare bonus up to 30% of your eligible earnings based on company performance
