Job Summary:
Represent clients in labor and employment law matters, providing counsel on compliance, litigation, and strategic planning. Advise on workplace issues, negotiate collective bargaining agreements, and defend clients in employment-related disputes.
Key Responsibilities:
Litigation and Dispute Resolution:
- Represent clients in court, arbitration, and mediation proceedings.
- Handle employment-related disputes, including wrongful termination, discrimination, and harassment claims.
- Defend clients against wage and hour, workers' compensation, and OSHA claims.
Counseling and Compliance:
- Advise clients on labor and employment law compliance.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures.
- Conduct workplace investigations and provide guidance on internal investigations.
- Counsel clients on union-management relations and collective bargaining.
Transactional and Strategic Planning:
- Draft and negotiate employment contracts, separation agreements, and collective bargaining agreements.
- Advise on workforce restructuring, reductions-in-force, and layoffs.
- Develop and implement diversity and inclusion initiatives.
- Conduct training sessions on employment law and workplace issues.
Client Relations:
- Build and maintain client relationships.
- Provide timely and effective communication.
- Identify and address client needs.
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
- 2-5 years of labor and employment law experience.
- Admission to the relevant state bar.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state labor and employment laws.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with labor and employment law firms or in-house counsel.
- Certification in labor and employment law (e.g., CELA, FLRP).
- Familiarity with relevant industries (e.g., healthcare, finance).
- Strong business acumen and strategic thinking.
- Leadership or management experience.
