Job Requirements / Description

Job Summary:

Represent clients in labor and employment law matters, providing counsel on compliance, litigation, and strategic planning. Advise on workplace issues, negotiate collective bargaining agreements, and defend clients in employment-related disputes.

Key Responsibilities:

Litigation and Dispute Resolution:

  1. Represent clients in court, arbitration, and mediation proceedings.
  2. Handle employment-related disputes, including wrongful termination, discrimination, and harassment claims.
  3. Defend clients against wage and hour, workers' compensation, and OSHA claims.

Counseling and Compliance:

  1. Advise clients on labor and employment law compliance.
  2. Develop and implement policies and procedures.
  3. Conduct workplace investigations and provide guidance on internal investigations.
  4. Counsel clients on union-management relations and collective bargaining.

Transactional and Strategic Planning:

  1. Draft and negotiate employment contracts, separation agreements, and collective bargaining agreements.
  2. Advise on workforce restructuring, reductions-in-force, and layoffs.
  3. Develop and implement diversity and inclusion initiatives.
  4. Conduct training sessions on employment law and workplace issues.

Client Relations:

  1. Build and maintain client relationships.
  2. Provide timely and effective communication.
  3. Identify and address client needs.

Requirements:

  1. Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  2. 2-5 years of labor and employment law experience.
  3. Admission to the relevant state bar.
  4. Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  5. Strong knowledge of federal and state labor and employment laws.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience with labor and employment law firms or in-house counsel.
  2. Certification in labor and employment law (e.g., CELA, FLRP).
  3. Familiarity with relevant industries (e.g., healthcare, finance).
  4. Strong business acumen and strategic thinking.
  5. Leadership or management experience.
