Purpose of this Role

The Director of Housing & Community Health is a senior level management position which oversees our housing, community health, food, and senior services initiatives. This role requires extensive knowledge of federal and local housing and community development programs, community health initiatives and understands food security infrastructure along with senior and individuals with disabilities service programs.

The Director of Housing & Community Health will provide leadership and management on matters of policy, equitable systems change, funding, research and measurement. In addition, this role leads community engagement with other non-profit partnerships, corporate leaders, and public sector partners to seek input and collaboration opportunities all with a lens of equitable outcomes with a focus on BIPOC communities.

Primary Responsibilities

The successful Director of Housing & Community Health is responsible for oversight and administration of all funds received from federal, state and local governments, as well as foundation and philanthropic funding. The individual in this role ensures all programs and projects under their purview are implemented in a timely manner, efficiently and in compliance with HUD, county, state, and all other applicable laws and governing bodies.

The Director is responsible for leading and managing staff for the stated programs and must be able to assess available resources (staffing and funding), develop programs and assign responsibilities in a way that leverages resources sustainably, and creates outcomes that benefit the community. The person in this position will need to be data driven with the ability to accurately manage and analyze data, then communicate findings to key stakeholders.

As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Director must be able to lead and influence, possessing strong communication and interpersonal skills as this role interacts with all levels of the organization including the Board of Directors. The Director will be an integral part of organizational strategy planning, forecasting and budgeting.

As a senior leader in a non-profit environment, the Director will be responsible for managing budgets, and grants while effectively developing a diverse team of direct reports, delivering performance reviews, providing constructive feedback and coaching in a timely, productive manner.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 10+ years of combined work experience in the following areas: housing, community health, aging or food security services; with progression in responsibilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field: public administration, community development, nonprofit management, etc. (equivalent combination of education and related work experience may be considered ).
  • 8+ years proven experience managing a team of direct reports.
  • Working knowledge of Oregon housing policy and programs.
  • Demonstrated experience using an equity lens for policy and funding decisions.
  • Experience with grant seeking, grant making and managing operational budgets.
  • Possesses strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in systems change, policy and advocacy, program oversight and design.
  • Must be able to utilize creative strategies to engage and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Intermediate to Advanced level knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) is essential.
  • Personal or professional experience interacting with individuals from different cultures, diverse communities, and those whose English language skills are limited.
  • Must have valid driver's license, reliable transportation and be able to drive to various sites as needed.

  • Non-Profit experience.
  • Prior experience working with the senior community.
  • Prior experience with food security issues and solutions.
