Join us and redefine your personal best.The role of a Civil engineer is to work independently on smaller projects and as a team member of larger projects. You should be able to evaluate, select, specify, and engineer systems or products for a project. A Civil engineer will perform a variety of complex tasks which may include calculations, fieldwork, and coordination of tasks and personnel. The projects assigned may be complex, broad, varied, and diverse in scope.Your Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare contract documents (i.e., plans and specifications) for a variety of projects, such as drainage plans, sanitary/storm sewers, wastewater treatment plants, roadways, erosion prevention & sediment control plans, levees, landfills, and ash pond closuresPrepare and revise documents in various civil phases including site plans, utility plan/profiles, grading plans, cross-sections, diagrams, and detailsDevelop grading plans, pipe alignments, and pipe profiles utilizing AutoCAD Civil3DPerform hydrologic and hydraulic calculations to support the design of stormwater drainage improvementsPrepare basis of design reports summarizing design criteria and calculations performedPerform construction administration such as submittal reviews, responses to requests for information, and reviewing daily field reportsConduct site visits during the design and construction phasesProvide support in permitting process of projectsManage and lead other team members and delegate specific project tasks to other team members as appropriateAssist senior engineers/designers with developing and managing the project scope, budget, staffing, and scheduleQualificationsYour Capabilities and CredentialsHas a well-developed understanding of general concepts of relevant areas of civil engineering designPossesses excellent time management skillsWell-developed understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specificationsProficiency in Microsoft Office, as well as relevant discipline software programs, which may include AutoCAD Civil3D, PCSWMM, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, StormCAD, or WaterCADAbility to solve complex problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovationAbility to check the work of others for accuracy and completenessAbility to participate and collaborate in a project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thoughtExcellent written and verbal communication skillsWilling to travel on an as needed basisEducation and ExperienceBachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering. Masters with a focus in Water Resource Engineering preferredMinimum of 2-5 years of related work experience or, an equivalent combination of education and experienceLicensed Professional Engineer or ready to take the exam within one yearTypical office environment working with computers and working at a desk for long periods of time.
