Qualification requirements are based on the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade level in the Federal Service. To qualify for the 2210 series:
For all positions, individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: In addition to meeting the IT Competencies above, applicants must possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service.
EDUCATION: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. in relevant fields.

Education completed in colleges or universities outside the United States may be used to meet the above requirements.
Additional information
CTAP and ICTAP candidates will be eligible for selection priority if it is determined that they have exceeded the minimum qualifications for the position.

Duties
As an IT Specialist you will perform the following duties:
- Review requirements of projects to determine objectives of the program, concepts, nature of the unprocessed data, and processes.
- Maintain problem tracking and resolution databases. Researches, evaluates, and provides feedback on problematic trends and patterns in customer support requirements.
- Provide technical assistance to customers to minimize disruptions of computer operations.
- Install, configure, and maintain operating systems components. Provides IT desktop hardware and software support.
