The role you’ll contribute:

The executive director of clinical support operations is directly responsible for the local execution and performance of clinical support services, which may include, imaging, inpatient rehab services, respiratory, laboratory, inpatient wound care, VAS and clinical staffing resources (CSR) at Advent Health Orlando. This key leadership position is accountable to effectively drive daily performance across the care continuum partnering with nursing to ensure continuity and collaboration of clinical support services that impact patient care for the outpatient, emergency, and inpatient patient populations. Additionally, this leader has oversight of the operations center that includes house supervisors, decedent care support. The Executive Director works closely with the Chief Operating Officer, Chief Nursing Officer and the Functional owners providing subject matter expertise for the clinical support operations areas; resulting in high quality outcomes, effective performance and team engagement. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Provides leadership and oversight for local and daily operations at AdventHealth Orlando for Imaging, Respiratory, Laboratory, Rehab, CSR, House Supervisors, Wound Care, and VAS.
  • Budgetary responsibility for departments, including monthly reviews and adherence to metrics and improvement activities.
  • Works collaboratively in functional matrix structure to ensure standardization and alignment across the system.
  • Leads team engagement and process improvement activities across departments to ensure effective and efficient operations.
  • Reviews and analyzes services quality and effectiveness in meeting caregivers' needs.
  • Coaches the directors, managers, and supervisors in understanding the core values and applying them to the respective service area.
  • Evaluates each area to assess that peak performance is being attained. Determine if better avenues or methods can enhance quality, productivity, and cost.

COMPLIANCE/REGULATORY RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Supports training programs to ensure all staff is knowledgeable of current codes and regulations with regulatory agency requirements (AHCA, DNV), and with internal policies and procedures.
  • Provides advice and guidance to hospital department directors and managers as well as other personnel in policy interpretations and related matters ensuring compliance.

OPERATING & CAPITAL BUDGET/FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Develops and monitors annual operating budget and fiscal accountability for all departments in roll up. Works with directors and managers to establish proactive, long range capital project and equipment planning needs.

STRATEGIC PLANNING RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Provides strategic input and administrative oversight of directors' day-to-day operations.
  • Develops and creates ideas, processes and approaches that shape the future, takes risks and makes decisions based on facts. Uses analysis and critical thinking skills to solve problems and ensures that decisions are aligned with strategic directions of the campus.
  • Works collaboratively to align and deploy functional processes locally on the campus.

PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Serves as a member of the Orlando Performance Committee, responsible for the day-to-day improvement activities of the Orlando campus.
  • Consistently looks for areas of cost improvement while maintaining high performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Supports and encourages professional development through participation in educational programs and professional organizations, and activities to maintain knowledge of national trends and to promote leading edge performance.
  • Establishes relationships with leaders in other departments. Responds quickly to expressed needs or deficiencies and resolves service issues. Establishes relationships with peers within the industry, use benchmarking to improve processes and outcomes.

COMMUNITY RELATIONS RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Represents the department in meetings with public officials, regulatory bodies, the business community, community and civic groups, and the public at-large.
  • Encourages and promotes community involvement within departments through participation in the American Heart Walk, Habitat for Humanity, United Way, Adopt-a-Family, and other campaigns.

STAFFING/LABOR/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Promotes good staffing practices by maximizing the utilization of human resources; forecasts and anticipates personnel needs with regard to fluctuations in the projected workload.
  • Builds capabilities within departments by coaching, developing, evaluating and mentoring directors and other team members.

The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree in clinical or business-related field.
  • Six (6) years of healthcare experience.
  • Four (4) years of progressive management and/or prior director level leadership experience over clinical and/or clinical support areas.

PREFERRED:

  • Master's degree in business, health administration or clinical field.

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED:

  • Formal Performance Improvement Certification in Six Sigma and/or Lean.
