THE FIRM

GVC Americas (“GVCA”) is a boutique private equity firm founded in 2021, based in Chicago. The firm makes focused growth investments in lower-middle market companies across the healthcare services and business services sectors. As an investment associate, you will work closely with our managing partner, senior investment professionals, investment committee, and portfolio companies supporting all aspects of our investment process from initial screening and due diligence, to closing, and beyond.

GVCA successfully closed its Fund I in 2022 (“GVC Americas Growth Fund I”), focused on investing alongside accomplished owner operators to unlock the growth potential of their businesses. You will work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with a close-knit, growing team.

THE ROLE

Our organization is rapidly growing and evolving, and we’re looking to add an Investment Associate to work directly with our senior partners as a key member of the investment team. The flat structure of our organization gives Associates unique investment experience working across the entire lifecycle of a deal, including:

·      Opportunity Analysis: conduct preliminary analysis to determine investment suitability based on established criteria.

·      Investment Due Diligence: perform extensive due diligence to evaluate a company’s financial and operational merits, while serving as the point person to complete GVCA’s internal investment tools. This process includes a thorough review of the company's financial statements, complex financial modeling, and liaising with both company management teams and external service providers.

·      Market Due Diligence: conduct industry and market analysis to identify trends and evaluate competitive landscape to help assess potential opportunities and risks for a given company or sector. Organize research into reports and presentations for internal and external audiences.

·      Deal Structuring: work closely with senior partners to analyze various deal terms and potential impacts while structuring and negotiating a transaction

·      Investment Approval: create, maintaining and present deal-related documents including indications of interest, letters of intent, and Investment Committee presentation materials. Assist in advising the Investment Committee regarding investment opportunities based on your research, analysis, and due diligence.

·      Portfolio Oversight: support aspects of ongoing portfolio management including updating financial analysis, and performance monitoring

·      Exit Preparation and Process: play a role in the preparation and execution of exit transactions, including due diligence, modeling, and analyses

The successful candidate will be a curious and continuous learner, with an insatiable appetite to remain current on industry trends, new technologies, and investment strategies. We are a small and growing organization, where everyone wears multiple hats. Our Investment Associate will seamlessly transition between on-going work, new projects, and ad-hoc requests as demands on their time evolve throughout the day. We would expect you to lead the creation of a complex model, be willing to unload the dishwasher, present to our Investment Committee, and everything in between.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will have 2 to 4 years of experience at an investment bank, or high performing investment firm. They will also have a combination of technical skills and personal attributes including:

·      Strong financial modeling skills with the ability to analyze and draw insights from diverse sets of information, isolate data anomalies, and identify trends

·      High attention to detail and a passion for being immersed in the numbers

·      Corporate finance, financial statement analysis, accounting and valuation knowledge and the ability to understand the key drivers of portfolio company performance and fund-level returns

·      Strong written and verbal communication skills, and experience authoring investment analyses, reports, or recommendations

·      Self-starter with a sense of ownership of work product

·      Ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously and manage time effectively to meet tight deadlines

·      Team player who can work independently, while proactively communicating with the team in a fast paced and dynamic environment

·      Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related field, with a strong academic record
