Position Overview

Reporting to the VP Global Manufacturing, this is a key leadership role responsible for the overall manufacturing operations of our south region which includes the following chemical sites: Diboll, TX; Baytown, TX; Geismar/Luling, LA; Alexandria, LA; Hope, AR; Columbus, GA; Fayetteville, NC; and Morganton, NC. The individual in this role will be accountable for driving robust performance in this region with a key focus on EHS, Customer Service, People Development, Productivity, and Operational Excellence. The right individual is a hands-on change leader with influential communication skills and the ability to engage all our team members to continually make tomorrow better than today through cross-functional collaboration, strong problem-solving, and disciplined execution. This leader is also responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory and corporate requirements.

This position can be located in TX or LA.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead and model safety excellence to ensure that all activities within the sites execute at a level to meet EHS objectives and maintain regulatory compliance.
  • Drive standardization and process optimization strategies that maximize asset reliability and utilization to minimize conversion costs and drive EBITDA.
  • Drive Operational Excellence activities that utilize a broad toolkit including 5S, Lean, Gemba, Leaders Standard Work, Visual Management, and Data Driven Problem solving to deliver continual improvement in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost/Cash, Innovation, and People related KPIs.
  • Assess, develop, and maintain a high performing regional organization through selection & upgrading, expectation setting, development, training, and mentoring.
  • Contribute to both the short-term and long-term planning processes, as well as be accountable for the achievement of annual operating goals related to expenses, capital, and HexionNext (transformational productivity) targets for the region.
  • Collaborate and partner with other functional teams to ensure customer and quality expectations are met or exceeded.
  • Analyze regional operational data to uncover gaps and areas for improvement to maximize operational effectiveness.
  • Work closely with engineering to monitor the planning and execution of projects and capital.
  • Ensure risk is well managed at the sites so customer deliveries are not interrupted by reliability, capability, compliance, or supply related issues. Work to minimize unplanned events and ensure adequate preventive and predictive maintenance processes.
  • Participate in the discovery, review, and implementation of new manufacturing processes and systems.
  • Serve as a communication channel to share best practices.
  • Sound business acumen and agility with proven delivery of positive sustainable results.
  • Empowers teams by establishing clear expectations and alignment on outcomes desired.
  • Excellent coaching and facilitation skills with a high level of energy that fosters engagement and teamwork.
  • Comfortable managing raw data and understanding how it fits into the broader picture of the specific analysis being performed.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative, servant-based leadership style.
  • Experience transforming cultures and implementing continuous improvement & operational excellence.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 15+ years’ experience in the chemical industry with focused experience in a process chemical manufacturing environment
    • Minimum 10 years Plant/Operations Leadership experience managing direct reports with at least 5+ years with multiple levels in reporting structure.
    • Experience in a Regional structure with multiple sites.
    • Experience with multi-mode delivery to customer including truck, rail, and pipeline preferred.
  • Has led teams & sites with strong safety performance and processes, and understands the cultural elements required.
  • Extensive experience in Process Safety Management.
  • Effective communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.
  • Lean Manufacturing experience resulting in positive value creation through gained efficiencies.
  • Understand end-to-end supply chain processes, including procurement, logistics, and distribution.
  • Experience managing large scale complex projects; capital project management experience is preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills and demonstrated experience applying those in the financial space.
  • Ability to communicate and influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Proven success in driving organizational change and business process improvements.
  • Ability to travel 60%.

Education Requirements

  • 4-year degree or applicable experience required; prefer a technical relevant background.
