The Cash and Corporate division of Northern Trust is looking for a Sr. Developer with at least 8 years of experience designing and developing high volume, time sensitive applications for the financial industry. The candidate will be involved in the development and support of the IBM MDM application using ETL DataStage with Oracle database and middleware/MQ interface. The person will be responsible for ETL development of MDM with data quality improvement as well as supporting the application.

Major Duties:

  1. Responsible for ETL development using IBM DataStage with integration across the bank to more than 30 source systems hosted in different tech stacks.
  2. Work with the source system to understand the data format, data quality, and build the ETL jobs with the highest level of standards.
  3. Communicate with source and consumer systems on a timely basis if there is a data quality issue and work with them to build a foolproof solution.
  4. Actively participate in development, with the view of production stability and responsible for system stability and high availability.
  5. Evaluate and make recommendations on techniques, practices, or technologies that would reduce production incidents.
  6. Engage in fixing the root cause of the issue/incident and monitor it, building an end-to-end solution.
  7. Participate in development as per DevOps model and continuously engage in development activity to better understand the release and upcoming features.
  8. Provide suggestions for automation of manual processes and engage with the offshore team on implementing automation.
  9. Excellent written and oral business communication to explain the system incident or development work.
  10. Implement features using Agile methodology.

Knowledge:

  1. Hands-on experience in IBM DataStage with an excellent understanding of MDM data.
  2. Hands-on experience in Red Hat Linux with the ability to write Shell scripts.
  3. Excellent understanding of the batch process, especially knowledge of Control-M and DataStage batch jobs.
  4. Data model understanding of the IBM MDM application is preferred.
  5. 8 years of hands-on experience in Oracle with the ability to write complex SQL and PL/SQL.
  6. Hands-on understanding of monitoring systems like Dynatrace, APM, Catchpoint.
  7. Experience troubleshooting applications hosted in on-premise and cloud environments.
  8. A college or university degree and/or relevant proven work experience is required.
  9. Clear understanding of Agile methodology.
  10. Knowledge of Azure Data Factory or any other cloud platform is an added advantage.
