What opportunity is available?

Clearview’s State & Local Tax Practice (SALT) is looking to hire a full-time Senior/Staff Consultant. This person will report directly to the Senior Manager. Our firm is headquartered in Owings Mills, Maryland and while this new hire may often work remotely, they will be required to commute to our corporate office and travel to client/prospect meetings, conferences, etc., as dictated by business need.

What will this new hire do?

The Senior/Staff Consultant will lead or co-lead multiple engagement teams and clients in relation to the completion of various sales and use tax and personal property tax consulting and compliance projects. This person will provide timely, high-quality service that meets or exceeds client expectations. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing sales and use tax and personal property tax assessments for reduction opportunities, attending hearings on behalf of clients, and tracking related follow-ups with the appropriate jurisdictions.
  • Clearly communicating sales and use tax and personal property tax review procedures to engagement teams.
  • Training and assisting Staff Consultants as well as Interns.
  • Communicating with clients to drive expectations and report on the status of ongoing projects.
  • Identifying and communicating sales and use tax, personal property tax, as well as any state and local tax, matters to a SALT leader.
  • Subscribing to and actively reading industry publications then sharing relevant information as applicable.
  • Providing exceptional service to clients and always serving as a positive brand ambassador for Clearview.
  • Maintaining a network of industry contacts and establishing new long-term relationships.

What is required for consideration?

  • Bachelor's and/or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or another relevant field.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of current or recent experience in sales & use tax or personal property tax consulting.
  • Understanding of sales and use tax and personal property tax rules and regulations impacting companies.
  • Experience leading or co-leading sales and use tax and personal property tax projects.
  • Strong communication skills with experience conveying complex SALT-related information and associated business impacts to non-technical audiences.
  • Unwavering integrity and ethics.
  • Experience interacting with clients, establishing credibility, trust, and healthy relationships.
  • Demonstrable examples of innovative thinking and problem solving.
  • Willingness and ability to commute to our Owings Mills, MD office as well as travel across the country, as dictated by business need.

What is preferred for consideration?

  • Project management experience including workflow balancing, activity scheduling, problem solving facilitation, prioritizing multiple complex tasks, and meeting deadlines.
  • Experience leading teams and mentoring others.
  • Effective public speaking skills with the ability to prepare and deliver presentations.
  • CPA, CPA Candidate.

What’s in it for you?

The estimated base salary range for the Staff level is $60,000 - $75,000 and for the Senior level is $75,000 - $100,000. The salary range represents a general guideline for this position. Most new hires starting salaries are between the minimum and midpoint of the range to allow individuals the opportunity to earn more over time. Clearview considers a number of factors when determining salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.
