IT MANAGER

SALARY: Sunol Glen USD Management Salary Schedule

LENGTH OF SERVICE: Full time - 12 months

BASIC FUNCTION

Under general supervision of the Superintendent, perform a variety of complex duties related to technology for a small one school, school district.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (may include, but not limited to the following)

  1. Plan and implement new technology and cyber security projects
  2. Manage life cycle replacement plan for technology equipment
  3. Establish purchasing standards, recommend and approve technology equipment purchases
  4. Evaluate operational procedures for effective use of technology
  5. Compact, repair, maintain and back-up data to ensure no data loss
  6. Troubleshoot, maintain and expedite repair of LAN/WAN equipment
  7. Provide network security and maintain firewalls and network security
  8. Manage the district’s E-Rate processes and compliance with consultant oversight
  9. Assist all District staff with the student database system (ex: Aeries); including writing queries.
  10. Create reports based on ad hoc and prepared queries and requests.
  11. Manipulate, transfer and store data in network, Internet and intranet environments.
  12. Manage state data reporting (CALPADS, CRDC, etc)
  13. Trouble-shoot user problems related to the District’s database applications.
  14. Use web-based resources and third party applications to resolve database and client issues.
  15. Assist internal departments in the creation and testing of scripts for software upgrades, network changes, database connectivity, and user configurations to ensure successful upgrade and changes.
  16. Work with application developers for updates and to resolve problems with the students database system (ex: Aeries) and other District databases.
  17. May assist in training end-users either by group or on an individual basis on the use of District maintained database systems.
  18. Maintain access security for all District data inside the District’s databases.
  19. Maintain and update documentation of the hardware and software for District’s systems.
  20. Attend and participate in staff meetings, workshops, conferences and classes.
  21. Responsible for supervising the Computer Lab Aide.
  22. Seek out ongoing training opportunities ensuring continued improvement and knowledge of system updates
  23. Other related work as required

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of:

  1. Goals, policies, and objectives of student information systems
  2. Technical aspects of SIS operating systems
  3. Operation of computers and related software
  4. Policies and objectives of assigned programs

Ability to:

  1. Provide network and database administration including planning and organization
  2. Supervise personnel
  3. Provide staff support through the problem-solving process, as well as assignments of IT tasks to internal IT personnel
  4. Prepare and maintain statistical records and reports
  5. Perform quality assurance testing
  6. Analyze requirements, develop, program, and implement database systems
  7. Plan, organize, control and evaluate IT and electronic data operations
  8. Analyze systems; interpret and explain system error reports
  9. Communicate technical information effectively in training

EXPERIENCE

Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in general computer and networking knowledge including database systems design, network and computer maintenance, and end user support is required. Direct experience with databases, network applications and technology systems used by the District is highly desirable. Experience in a related field beyond the three year requirement may be substituted for the years of education experience on a two years experience equals one year of education basis.

EDUCATION

Associates Degree or 60 semester units completed in a Bachelor’s Degree program from an accredited college or university, with major coursework in computer science, management information systems, or a related field is required.

Possess dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and adjust computer equipment. Bend at the waist, kneel, or crouch. Stand and walk. See to read a variety of materials. Sit or stand for extended periods of time. Climb a step stool/ladder and reach above shoulders.

Hazards:

Sitting and viewing a computer monitor for extended periods of time; and dealing with difficult individuals.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $6,927.16 - $8,227.30 per month
