Harris County Precinct One is looking for a Park Area Manager!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • The successful candidate will be hands-on and responsible for park operations, maintenance, and administration to ensure park safety, cleanliness, and visitor satisfaction in the assigned area.
  • Key responsibilities include developing planning goals, supervising staff, managing budgets, conducting inspections, and ensuring safety compliance.
  • Additional duties involve park maintenance activities, developing procedures, managing supplies, training employees, and engaging in professional development.
  • You will regularly inspect park grounds and facilities to assess the quality of maintenance and identify necessary repairs and improvements.
  • You will routinely check the operating condition of equipment and vehicles and serve as the point person for regional safety and asset control of equipment and amenities.
  • You will also be responsible for developing policies and procedures that enable and encourage optimum performance of people and resources as well as assist staff with opening and closing the parks.
  • The successful candidate will also collaborate and assist the Regional Manager with the development of annual work plans and budgets, and employee relations including performance, morale, and coaching.
  • Other duties: Performs all other duties as assigned.

What you will bring to Precinct One

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Park and Resource Management, Recreation and Park Administration, Environmental Resources, Forestry, Arboriculture, or a related field of study from an accredited college or university.

Comparable years of experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.

Experience:

  • Five (5) years of experience in park maintenance, including tasks such as landscaping, groundskeeping, facility repairs, and general upkeep of park areas.
  • Five (5) years of experience leading or supervising the work of others.
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft software applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to obtain the Certified Playground Safety Inspector Certificate within the given time frame.
  • Skilled at operating commercial-grade landscaping equipment.
  • Knowledge of natural resource conservation and public relations.
  • Ability to coach and lead staff, as well as practice good budget management.
