The Department of Anesthesia and Perioperative Care is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and dedicated professional to serve as the Culture and Belonging Coordinator. This position will provide administrative and logistical support across Community and Culture Programs that include:

  1. Underrepresented in Medicine (URIM) Fellowship
  2. Bring Your Kid to Work Day
  3. Community Connections Initiative
  4. Staff DEI Committee
  5. Students Capturing the OR Experience (SCORE)
  6. Undergraduate Research Internship (URI) Program
  7. Faces for the Future Program
  8. Other departmental DEI events, training, workshops, and wellness initiatives

This position will assist the Director of Culture and Belonging in administrative and operational tasks, including applying professional concepts to conduct analytical studies, data collection, program assessment, reporting, and providing informed recommendations. This position will also be responsible for coordinating logistics of events, programs, and special projects.

The Culture and Belonging Coordinator will report directly to the Director of Culture and Belonging and will work closely with the Vice Chair of DEI and the Staff DEI Committee to support the planning, implementation, and evaluation of Community and Culture Programs and other DEI events, training, and workshops. This position will play a crucial role in developing processes and implementing initiatives to enhance employee culture in areas of diversity, equity, and inclusion, well-being.

This position requires a passion for and demonstrated commitment to DEI work, knowledge of DEI best practices, the ability to move between different projects and timelines, and the organizational skills to manage collaboration across staff, faculty, learners, community organizations, and special interest groups.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • Minimum 1 year of related experience.
  • Working knowledge of common organization- or research-specific and other computer application programs.
  • Proficient in communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficient in ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.
  • Demonstrates ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns regarding confidential and/or highly sensitive subject matter.
  • Demonstrates ability to analyze, research, and synthesize large amounts of data with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient in ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.
  • End-to-end experience planning and executing engagement initiatives, events, and programs of varying size and scope.
  • Knowledge and embodiment of diversity and inclusion best practices.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with individuals and groups from various identities, cultures, and backgrounds.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative in planning and problem solving, under general guidance from the supervisor.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of applicable policy analysis techniques.
  • Familiarity with data privacy laws within working regions (including GDPR).
  • Highly organized with project and event management skills.
