Summary : The Strategic Sourcing Director is responsible for the procurement of commodities through the development and implementation of commodity strategy plans and the management of supplier relationships. Other areas of responsibility include price negotiation and quotations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Forecast procurement needs and source for new vendors.
  • Perform vendor reviews and qualifications, negotiate contracts, and streamline a cost savings process.
  • Study sales orders and inventory levels to maintain efficient production processes.
  • Maintain and submit cost saving reports.
  • Manage cost reduction projects, create value through the development of best-in-class sourcing strategies to reduce overall cost, and identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Work closely with Quality Control, Quality Assurance, and Research & Development departments to evaluate the quality of raw materials.
  • Obtain and review technical documentation, develop long-term partnerships with key suppliers, and manage the supply base to support corporate objectives in the areas of cost, quality, delivery, and customer satisfaction.
  • Manage internal and external communication, including financial agreements, and build and develop relationships with key suppliers.
  • Work with vendors to ensure raw materials/components are available to allow supply of finished goods.
  • Participate in industry events such as trade shows, professional meetings, and seminars.
  • Assist the Sales department with cost-effective, accurate, and timely completion of quotations.
  • Assist in developing and implementing purchasing strategies for products.
  • Continually develop expertise to support growth for new projects.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to set priorities, be flexible, multi-task, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience working with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, with SYSPRO experience strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) and FDA regulations.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced work environment.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field with equivalent 7 years of experience in the same or related position.
