Are you looking for a rewarding role where you can stay active, provide compassionate support, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of two fun and energetic individuals? BrightPath LLC is seeking a Patient, Understanding, and Energetic Individualized Home Support Specialist (IHSS) to provide person-centered care for two individuals in St. Paul. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys staying active, loves dogs, and is passionate about creating positive, supportive environments.

About the Role
You’ll be working with two individuals who live just down the street from one another, both of whom love music and enjoy a variety of activities like bingo, marching bands, and karate. You’ll need to be ready to embrace their energy and support their active lifestyles, from walking outside in all seasons to possibly attending the gym with them.

Both individuals have emotional support animals, so being comfortable with big dogs is a must. They are also looking for someone who has strong boundaries, a good sense of humor, and can respect their personal beliefs, including religious preferences and smoking habits. One of the individuals can become easily overwhelmed in shopping environments, so your patience and guidance will be essential to helping them stay calm and make confident decisions.

This role is perfect for someone who is non-judgmental, kind-hearted, and willing to engage with a wide variety of people. If you enjoy supporting others in their decision-making and feel confident leading activities such as helping with garage sales or making a trip to the store more manageable, you’ll thrive in this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide active, hands-on support with daily activities, including going for walks and visiting the gym in all seasons
  • Help with running errands, including shopping, while offering reassurance and support to prevent overwhelm
  • Respect the individuals’ religious beliefs and smoking preferences
  • Assist with household tasks, such as lifting boxes for a garage sale or helping with organization
  • Be open-minded, understanding, and non-judgmental, creating a safe, welcoming environment for both individuals
  • Build a trusting relationship through humor, patience, and strong boundaries
  • Provide companionship, especially through shared interests like music, bingo, and other activities
  • Be comfortable with large emotional support dogs and provide care as needed

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and current auto insurance
  • Ability to pass required background checks
  • Strong communication skills and a good sense of humor
  • Patience and understanding are essential, especially in high-energy or overwhelming situations
  • Comfortable working in homes with large dogs
  • Physically able to assist with tasks like lifting boxes and being active outdoors
  • Non-judgmental and respectful of personal beliefs and lifestyles
  • Open to supporting clients with a variety of personalities and preferences

Why Choose BrightPath?

  • A flexible schedule with hours that fit your lifestyle
  • An opportunity to be active and engaged while making a meaningful difference in someone’s life
  • Comprehensive training and ongoing support from a welcoming team
  • Competitive pay rates based on experience and qualifications
  • Career growth and professional development opportunities

Benefits

  • Earned Sick and Safe Time (ESST): Accrue 1 hour for every 30 hours worked
  • Mileage reimbursement for work-related travel
  • A supportive and positive team environment

If you’re an active, kind-hearted individual who enjoys building positive relationships and supporting others with their daily activities, we’d love to hear from you!
