SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE
To hire a detail-oriented and organized Accountant with a primary focus on managing accounts payable and supporting general accounting functions. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. This position works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements while contributing to the overall financial health of the organization.
Role and Responsibilities
Accounts Payable Management :
  • Process invoices, verify accuracy, and ensure timely payments to vendors.
  • Manage vendor relations, respond to inquiries, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Review and code expenses in accordance with company policies.
  • Maintain vendor records, including W-9 forms and other relevant documentation.
General Accounting Functions :
  • Prepare and post journal entries related to accounts payable and general accounting.
  • Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accurate financial reporting.
  • Reconcile bank statements, accounts payable ledgers, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain and update the general ledger with proper classification of expenses and transactions.
  • Assist in preparing financial statements and reports as needed.
Compliance & Auditing :
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations related to financial transactions.
  • Support audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations related to accounts payable and general accounting.
Other Duties :
  • Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and cost analysis as needed.
  • Support cross-functional teams with financial data and analysis.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives for greater efficiency within accounting operations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Experience and Education Requirements
A Bachelor's degree with major coursework in accounting, finance, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures affecting the maintenance of accounting records and automated accounting systems.
  • Skill in the use of a computer and applicable software.
  • Ability to interpret and apply accounting theory; to interpret laws and regulations; to work accurately with numerical detail; to analyze, consolidate, and interpret accounting data; and to communicate effectively.

  • Proficiency in Accounting Software and Advanced Excel Skills: Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in accounting software, ERP systems, and cloud-based solutions, alongside strong data entry accuracy. Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel are essential, including the ability to utilize complex formulas and create pivot tables.
