Built in the 1920's for the heirs to the Pierce Arrow Automobile Company, Ingleside Estate was later purchased in 1935 by Palm Springs pioneer Ruth Hardy. Ms. Hardy catered to select guests from the world of high society, opera, show business, art, financial and diplomacy.
In 1975, Ingleside was purchased by the late Melvyn Haber. Since then, the Ingleside Estate and Melvyn's Restaurant & Bar have been honored to serve thousands of notables like Frank Sinatra, President Ford, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Marlon Brando.
Job Overview:
As a Hotel Restaurant Server, you play a pivotal role in ensuring guests have an exceptional dining experience while maintaining the highest standards of service. In addition to the existing responsibilities outlined in the job overview, your role will encompass the following functions:
Additional Functions:
  1. Menu Knowledge: Possess an in-depth knowledge of the restaurant menu, including food and beverage offerings, and confidently make recommendations to guests based on their preferences and dietary restrictions.
  2. Upselling: Proactively promote specials, additional menu items, and beverages to enhance the dining experience and increase revenue.
  3. Tableside Preparation: Perform tableside preparation of certain dishes or beverages, such as cocktails, salads, or desserts, to add a personalized touch to the guest experience.
  4. Guest Engagement: Engage with guests in a friendly and welcoming manner, building rapport and creating a memorable dining experience that encourages repeat visits.
  5. Wine Service: Provide expert wine service, including decanting, pouring, and describing wine selections to guests, enhancing their enjoyment of the meal.
  6. Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with colleagues in the restaurant, kitchen, and bar to ensure smooth service flow and guest satisfaction.
  7. Quality Assurance: Monitor the quality and presentation of food and beverages before serving to ensure they meet the hotel's standards of excellence.
  8. Special Events Support: Assist with the coordination and execution of special events or private dining experiences, ensuring all guest needs are met and exceeded.
  9. Continuous Improvement: Seek opportunities for self-improvement through training and development programs, enhancing skills in hospitality, service, and product knowledge.
  10. Safety and Hygiene: Adhere to strict hygiene and safety standards, including proper food handling and sanitation practices, to ensure a clean and safe dining environment for guests and colleagues.
  11. Community Engagement: Participate in community outreach initiatives and events to promote the hotel's commitment to social responsibility and foster positive relationships with local residents and businesses.

Qualifications and Education:
In addition to the qualifications and education requirements stated in the original job description, candidates for this role should ideally possess:
  • Previous experience in a fine dining or upscale restaurant environment, demonstrating a commitment to delivering exceptional service.
  • Certification or training in wine service, bartending, or mixology, with a strong understanding of beverage preparation techniques and drink recipes.
  • Proven ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and upholding service standards.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a genuine passion for hospitality, with the ability to anticipate and exceed guest expectations.
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to accommodate the needs of the restaurant and its guests.
  • Possession of CA Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certification, demonstrating a commitment to safety and responsible alcohol service required.
  • Riverside County Food Handler's Certification preferred,
