FLSA: Exempt (does not accrue overtime)

Salary Range: Depending on educational credentials, placement can range from $86,304 to $121,488 per year.

The Position:

The College seeks a full-time, tenure track faculty member in Computer Information Science. The ideal candidate will share the College's commitment to educating a racially and socioeconomically diverse student population.

The anticipated start date for this position is Spring 2025.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee the Computer Information Science (CIS) Department, including development of certificates and degrees, curriculum, sequence of course offerings, and collaborations with other departments and local industry.
  2. Teach lecture/laboratory classes as assigned from the CIS curriculum.
  3. Collaborate with other instructors to enhance instruction, curriculum, and student success.
  4. Take the lead in curriculum revisions and new course development for CIS.
  5. Participate in the development and/or selection of course materials, equipment, and technology that will enhance offerings of the department.
  6. Maintain expertise in current technologies.
  7. Consult with students during regularly scheduled office hours.
  8. Serve as a member of division and college committees.
  9. Perform other duties as required by contract, collective bargaining agreement, and general institutional needs in a timely manner.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's or above in computer science or computer engineering OR Bachelor's in either of the above AND Master's or above in mathematics, cybernetics, business administration, accounting or engineering OR Bachelor's in engineering AND Master's or above in cybernetics, engineering, mathematics, or business administration OR Bachelor's in mathematics AND Master's or above in cybernetics, engineering, mathematics, or business administration OR Bachelor's degree in any of the above AND a Master's degree or above in information science, computer information systems, or information systems OR the equivalent.
  • Demonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to, and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, ethnic, neurodivergent, and LGBTQIA+ backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practice both within and outside of the classroom.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  1. Possess a professional level of competence in Computer Science with demonstrated ability to teach a variety of courses in its core disciplines.
  2. Ability to develop and teach one or more of the following: fundamentals of software engineering, mobile and web computing, cloud computing, data science.
  3. Recent successful experience in teaching college-level courses in computer science in a community college or university.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Recent experience working with racially minoritized and other disproportionately-impacted students in the classroom.
  • Experience and expertise in culturally-responsive teaching in computer information science.
