Director, FP&A/Strategic Finance

Mountain View, California (Hybrid)


Our client is one of the largest local news platforms in the US & defines a new way for users to engage with local news. They help a new generation of readers find and engage with vital, locally published content and information. They are expanding their team and looking for a Director, FP&A/Strategic Finance that can lead the financial planning and analysis function, providing strategic financial insights and supporting the company’s growth and profitability goals.


Responsibilities :

  1. Generate comprehensive presentations on budgets and forecasts, emphasizing critical performance metrics and their effect on the company's cash flow.
  2. Oversee and enhance the fully integrated financial forecast model encompassing all three financial statements.
  3. Evaluate various business scenarios to support decisions on investment prioritization and resource distribution.
  4. Conduct variance analyses and strive for continuous improvements in forecast accuracy.
  5. Execute financial analyses, develop strategic models, and assist senior management in making well-informed business decisions.
  6. Ensure a robust process for crafting financial plans and analyses that align with strategic goals.
  7. Collaborate with project teams and departments to formulate and oversee budgets and forecasts.
  8. Aid in investor due diligence and the preparation for annual audits.
  9. Play a crucial role in the monthly financial closing process.
  10. Provide support for any additional financial analysis or modeling as needed.


Qualifications:

  1. A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or a similar discipline is preferred.
  2. At least 5 years of progressively intricate expertise in financial strategy and analysis, especially within a Corporate FP&A setting.
  3. Proficiency in creating frameworks and solutions for complex questions and high-level concepts.
  4. Expert-level skills in Excel and presentation development, with a track record of constructing financial models and producing clear, impactful presentations.
  5. Capability to collaborate across departments, influence stakeholders, and communicate effectively at all management levels.
  6. Competence in writing SQL queries and extracting data from databases.
  7. Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities and manage multiple projects concurrently.
  8. Experience with NetSuite and other financial planning tools is a plus.
  9. Experience in the internet/tech industry or management consulting, private equity, or investment banking is a plus.
