Job Description
- Oversee payroll processing for union, non-union, and part-time employees, ensuring timely and accurate weekly, biweekly, and semi-monthly payrolls.
- Lead and mentor a team of 5 payroll professionals, providing guidance, support, and professional development.
- Maintain and manage the payroll system (Paylocity) and timekeeping systems (Kronos) to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
- Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to ensure payroll compliance with policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
- Address payroll-related inquiries and issues from employees, providing timely and effective resolutions.
- Assist in the preparation of reports related to payroll, including payroll audits and reconciliations.
- Ensure proper documentation and compliance with collective bargaining agreements for union employees.
- Stay up to date with changes in payroll laws and regulations, and implement necessary updates.
- Support implementation of new HRIS/Payroll system
- Support year-end payroll processing, including W-2 generation and tax reporting.
The Successful Applicant
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field preferred.
- 5+ years of payroll management experience, preferably in a higher education or multi-union environment.
- Strong knowledge of Paylocity and Kronos, or similar HRIS and payroll systems.
- Solid understanding of federal and state payroll regulations.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills with a track record of developing high-performing teams.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
