As an IT Specialist, you will perform the following duties:

  1. Provide routine IT systems administration and customer support to Pacific Islands Regional Office (PIRO) employees, ensuring information technology equipment and software is maintained and kept at current patch and revision levels. Provide timely and customer-focused Information Technology services and help-desk operations. Deploy, maintain and troubleshoot IT equipment as directed. Maintain and operate IT Service Desk system and provide Tier 1 and 2 user support and assistance for meetings, hardware, software, telephony, and network issues.
  2. Configure and distribute IT equipment to operational locations. Manage government furnished smart phones for end-users while adhering to established policies and procedures. Monitor office equipment such as copiers, fax machines, projectors, printers and plotters for proper operation and perform end user maintenance on the equipment, such as replacing toner cartridges or other modules and initiate trouble calls for equipment vendors when required. Effectively allocate available resources to accomplish assigned tasks, and work with team lead to prioritize as necessary.
  3. Anticipate supply depletions and prepare orders to replace consumable materials. Maintain complete and accurate physical and electronic IT records (e.g. user access forms; equipment hand receipts) in accordance with established protocols/procedures. Effectively use IT resources and follow applicable IT policies and procedures including both security and appropriate use policies. Fulfill all admin requirements related to procurement, travel, time and attendance, records management, etc. Establish effective communication and collaboration with internal and external National Marine Fisheries Service headquarters (NMFS HQ), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Chief Information Officer (NOAA OCIO), vendors, etc.
