Job Summary:

Under the general direction of City Management, the IT Director is responsible for coordinating system analysis, maintenance, and development activities through direct and indirect staff. Leads team in scheduling, technical direction, future planning, and standard practices. The IT Director develops the annual Information Technology Department budget, capital equipment processes, and quality improvement activities. The IT Director will maintain exceptional interpersonal skills and be a strong, forward-thinking leader. The IT Director oversees Information Technology Department and is a member of the Executive Team for the City of Duncanville. This position exercises direct supervision over assigned staff.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Formal Education: Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a relevant field and ten (10) years of related work experience. Fifteen (15) or more years of related work experience and applicable certifications can be substituted for the required education requirement.
  • Experience: Ten (10) years leadership experience in Information Technology and/or a closely related field, with four (4) years of administrative and supervisory experience with specific experience leading a team of Information Technology employees.
  • Knowledge of: Information technology systems and network infrastructure. Departmental best-practices, systems, and policies. All relevant coding languages and security protocols.
  • Supervision: Work requires managing and monitoring work performance of a department or division including evaluating program/work objectives and effectiveness, establishing broad organizational goals and realigning work and staffing assignments for the department.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced skills and knowledge in approaches and systems, which affect the design and implementation of major programs and/or processes organization-wide. Must possess the ability to repair, develop, or install telecommunications systems, computer hardware or network systems, and complex software or management information systems.
  • Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain CJIS clearance.

Work Environment: Work performed is primarily (but not exclusively) medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects.

This position is eligible for hybrid-remote, flexible hours, and 4 10-hour days scheduling upon the successful completion of a six month probationary period and at supervisor’s discretion.
