Job Title: General Manager
Base Pay: $80,000-$100,000/ann

Schedule: 40-50 hrs/week
**Please note that Buddy is open on some major holidays. Scheduling may be flexible, but time off requests cannot be guaranteed.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership
Manages and leads with passion, drive and awareness. Exudes positive energy, approachable, and sets the pace for the restaurant staff.
Accepts feedback well and makes necessary adjustments quickly.
Communicates effectively with all staff members and demonstrates strong leadership skills, provides solutions and guidance to staff members and initiates team work
Supportive, loyal and objective of company rules. Ensures company policies are implemented and communicated to staff.
Scheduling & Time Management
The General Manager oversees the global schedule and must approve before posting. Scheduling decisions are strategic, well thought out, and prioritizes the business needs. The Manager takes into consideration restaurant history, holidays, time of year, guest count, etc.
It is mandatory that The General Manager is present during the busiest shifts, and that when The General Manager is not present the restaurant still operates at a high level.
In order to have full awareness and familiarity of the restaurant's operations during service, and to ensure that the business is operating as close as possible to its peak efficiency and profitability, it is vital that The Manager s schedule adapt to the business needs, within reason.
Administrative Duties & Time Management
The General Manager should intrinsically understand the appropriate amount of time and time of day that should be spent on administrative duties. The floor is always a priority over admin.
The General Manager Takes responsibility for everything that happens in the restaurant, and is knowledgeable in all departments of the restaurant, including technology, menu items, service standards, financials and facilities. Understands all systems at a high level.
Works with the Executive Chef to ensure the facility and equipment are in working condition.
Works with the owners, the Controller and Human Resources to perform administrative duties including processing of new hires, accounting, termination paperwork, payroll, etc. Efficiently manages their time to spend the appropriate amount of time at the appropriate time of day on the appropriate days towards completing administrative duties.
Ensures the restaurant operates in compliance with labor laws, health and safety guidelines.
Ensures all members of the restaurant team work in a safe, professional and positive work environment.
Works with the owners and the Controller to operate the restaurant in accordance with financial budget and meets profitability target
Service
Due to the nature of Buddy's unique hybrid labor model, The General Manager needs to adapt to and assume various roles across both FOH and BOH.
Due to the nature of Buddy's unique hybrid labor model, The Manager will be scheduled a minimum of 4 shifts per week.
Staff Development
The Manager spends the appropriate amount of time developing their team by identifying and addressing strengths and weaknesses, giving daily and weekly feedback as well as an action plan every 90 days for the management team.
Follow up is key in getting results out of your staff. Praise in public and critique behind the scenes.
Present for disciplinary action and terminations
Works with the Executive Chef and Beverage Director to ensure quality of food and beverages are executed to standard.
Directs weekly meetings with the Executive Chef, Floor Manager, and Partners to discuss operations, staffing issues, service, product quality and upcoming events
Responsible for implementation of staff training and follow up, utilizes training systems in the restaurant and makes applicable updates and suggestions when necessary
The Manager gives staff members feedback and guidance therefore staff members always know the status of their performance
Ensures all members of the restaurant team work in a safe, professional and positive work environment and escalates employee relations issues to Human Resources when necessary.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must maintain high levels of mobility, flexibility, dexterity, coordination and energy
Must be able do the essential functions of the job for long periods of time, and work under heavy stress during busy times
Must be able to bend, stoop and navigate a variety of terrain while on property.
EXPECTATIONS
A minimum of 40-50 hours per week.
