Our research and development programs make us a technology leader with advanced methodologies and tools to predict potential consequences, analyze risk, and design protection, prevention, and mitigation systems for such catastrophic events.
Opportunities available in BakerRisk's Houston, TX and Chicago, IL office for entry level process safety engineer/consultant.
Responsibilities include:

  • Modeling fire, toxic, and explosion consequences and calculating risk using BakerRisk's broad suite of process safety software.
  • Traveling to sites around the world to collect and confirm essential process data used in quantitative models.
  • Candidates will support senior engineers in tasks supporting quantitative and qualitative risk analyses for global clients, including report and presentation preparation.
  • Supporting other process safety analyses including fire and gas detection, fire hazard mitigation, process hazard analyses, hazardous area classification as well as supporting accident investigations and dispersion/fire testing.
This position leads to higher responsibilities such as technical mastery in risk concepts, project management and client relationship management.
This position requires a BS or MS in Chemical Engineering with a 3.3 GPA or higher. Other engineering degrees that also are accompanied with a concentration or minor in chemistry would also be considered. A successful candidate must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Travel is expected. Must have a valid driver's license.
Preferred capabilities:
  • Experience in quantitative modeling or process simulation
  • Experience in risk analysis or process safety management tasks
  • Fluency in reading engineering documents, including P&IDs, PFDs, and equipment data sheets.
  • Previous internships or co-ops working as a process engineer, controls engineer, or process safety management engineer
  • Previous experience in Microsoft® Office Suite
  • Strong verbal, written and presentation communication skills
  • Leadership experience and/or demonstrated capability in team project settings
