Job description

The Senior Director, Millstone Testing provides overall direction and guidance to all Millstone testing operations functions.

The Senior Director, Millstone Testing:

  • Leads by example in ensuring quality comes first throughout each operation
  • Provides day-to-day leadership and management of functional areas and mentors subordinates and other employees
  • Maximizes growth and profitability
  • Directs and coordinates activities consistent with established goals, objectives, and policies
  • Develops strategies and policies aligned with organizational goals
  • Responsible for the company Quality Management System (QMS) including development, management, and continual improvement by overseeing policies, procedures, and practices that establish quality systems compliant with current and expected requirements of various regulatory agencies and customer requirements
  • Work collaboratively with key employees to ensure that the overall Quality Management System remains effective as implemented, consistent with stated goals, objectives, and posted Quality Policies
  • Oversee internal teams on strategy development, risk assessments, and to drive execution of QMS processes through programs, policies and functions that support service quality
  • Oversee and address recommendations made by Laboratory Management and/or employees concerning the quality system, regulatory/customer requirements, resources for facility and associated equipment and materials, and recruiting competent staff
  • Follows direction set by the CEO and Board of Directors

  • Attention to detail to maintain working knowledge of all Millstone services and quality processes. Ability to recognize and communicate potential issues.

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional laboratory environment.

Travel

Occasional local travel during the business day and occasional out of the area or overnight travel may be expected.

Physical requirements:

  • Requirements to stand and traverse to various office and lab locations and sit at a computer workstation will vary.
  • Bending, stooping, and crouching.
  • Occasional push and pull tasks with one or both hands.
  • Must be able to work while wearing personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, goggles, face shields, gloves, lab coats and personal protective equipment deemed necessary to protect testing and to protect employees from various solutions, wastes, etc.

Education and experience requirements:

  • B.S. degree in Biology or equivalent
  • 8-10 years in the medical device or allied industry
  • 3 years management experience (preferably a CEO or VP in a small company/division)
  • 3-5 years of ISO 17025/13485 Microbiology laboratory experience in a technical management role is required.
