Position description: Enlace Chicago is looking for an individual who will provide support, guidance and alignment to Enlace Chicago’s education goals and initiatives, internally and externally. This position will work to achieve a higher level of integration by identifying and implementing strategies to support a successful transition from early childhood education to middle school to high school, completion of high school and the transition to college and career opportunities. The Associate Director of Education will work in collaboration with the Director of Education to integrate all aspects of the Education Department’s structure across the education portfolio and Enlace at large.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works closely with the Director of Education, LVEC Coordinator, and other Enlace Education staff to align the department goals and priorities with the Little Village Quality of Life Plan.
  • Directly supports the reporting and compliance measures for the education department grant portfolio.
  • Ensure data collection for education programming is conducted in a timely manner in accordance with the reporting requirements and cadence.
  • Directly supervise the Youth Services Manager and the Postsecondary Manager. Provide overall direction, conduct regular check-ins and reflection sessions, overseeing work plans, and ensuring completion of yearly evaluations.
  • Steward working relationships with Little Village CPS school principals, counselors, teachers, parents and education stakeholders throughout the city, and the state.
  • Facilitates formal and informal spaces that bring together education stakeholders to move forward system alignment and system change strategies.
  • Along with the Director of Education, leads the design and implementation of robust Community Schools programs that integrate early childhood education, parent engagement strategies, and postsecondary pathways, aimed at improving educational outcomes for Little Village students and their families.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant area of study from an accredited four-year college or university required;
  • 3-5 years of experience/passion for data analysis,, grant writing and programming in the field of education;
  • Direct experience implementing Community Schools and/ or Sustainable Community Schools models
  • Knowledge of Chicago Public Schools structure and equity initiatives;
  • Experience managing a team of diverse professionals
  • Knowledge and experience of participatory community approaches and frameworks;
  • Knowledge of state and federal educational policies;
  • Understanding of community organizing and advocacy;
  • Strong understanding and passion for issues of equity in education
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish;
  • Experience working with Latinx and African American communities;
  • Experience and comfort in facilitating meetings and presenting to large multi-sector audiences;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work in collaborative fashion;

Working Conditions/Demands : Extensive local travel involved. Ability to transport 15-20 lbs of outreach material. Ability to work flexible hours occasionally on evenings and weekends.
