Contract Details: This is a non-continuing behavior monitor assignment supporting special education students during transportation. Bus ride begins at 1:55 pm and ends at GF high school. This is a non-continuing assignment, which begins when filled and ends approximately June 13, 2025 or the last day of school dependent on snow days or other inclement weather/emergencies. This position requires on-site work, working remotely is not an option. Any anticipated overtime requires prior approval and this position does not accrue comp-time.
Position: 07-02 BEHAVIOR MONITOR
Work Location: Granite Falls High School
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, Wednesday 85 minutes earlier start time
Work Hours : 1:55 to 2:40 p.m. = .75 hours per day
Wage/Step Zero: $19.72 without degree and $20.22 with degree.

GENERAL SUMMARY: Supervise students to maintain a safe environment, monitor and encourage positive student behavior, and provide disciplinary intervention, if necessary.
TYPICAL FUNCTIONS
1. Provide encouragement and reinforcement of positive student behavior.
2. Submit forms/reports as needed.
3. Correct behaviors and maintain discipline according to established policies and procedures; instruct students in behavioral rules and codes for student safety, socialization, and individual growth.
4. Assist students in the mastery of interpersonal and personal skills; listen to student confidences and refer problems to teachers, counselors, specialists, or administrators as appropriate.
5. Establish and maintain effective communication with students, staff, parents, and the public, for student progress and safety and community relations.
6. Serve as a member of the instructional team of the District; perform related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.
7. May prepare, duplicate, collate, and distribute materials; operate a variety of office equipment, including laminator.
REPORTS TO: Building principal
MENTAL DEMANDS: Requires ability to read and write to follow written instructions, prepare and complete basic reports, records, etc.; requires average math skills; may experience frequent interruptions; requires dealing with a wide range of student behaviors and academic abilities and/or with a wide range of physical or emotional disabilities; requires patience and understanding when working under stressful situations and when working with students with special needs; may be required to calm distraught, angry or hostile students; requires adaptability and flexibility to different student behavioral styles and abilities; requires cooperation and ability to work as a team member; requires organizational skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: May be exposed to visual display terminal for prolonged periods; requires dexterity and precision in the operation of a computer, sitting for extended periods of time without restrictions; requires mobility (standing, walking, etc.); may be exposed to infectious diseases carried by students; exposure to student noise levels; may be required to lift and position students; requires twisting upper torso and neck and slight bending forward without restrictions, occasional bending at waist to ground; requires good visual and hearing ability; may require restraining out of control students; may require work outdoors in any kind of weather.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Satisfactory background clearance results (fingerprinting required); proof of ability to work in the United States.
