This OpportunityWSP is currently initiating a search for a Part Time Systems Operator I for our Hawthorne, New York office.An Operator I shall have a detailed familiarity with the TMC daily obligations, tools, systems, regional roadways, understand communications protocols, be knowledgeable on locations and purpose of all ITS elements and shall be capable of independently following procedures and direction. If the System Operator I is not able to demonstrate proficiency after three months at the discretion of the NYSDOT TMC Manager, the Consultant shall provide additional training to the System Operator 1 at no cost to the Department. Additionally, there will be a six-month probation period for newly hired System Operator I / Trainees.Your ImpactProvide human monitoring and operation of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) devices and other traffic control devices, and take appropriate actions based upon guidance from current and future SOPs.Traffic Incident ManagementCoordination of responses for roadway concernsDispatching of maintenance crews for snow/ice eventsDatabase entry for all activities related to incidents, special events, roadway concerns, and call logs.Assist in traffic data collection for system performance of troubleshooting using manual and automateddata collection and surveillance features of the ATMS/ITS and other TMC systems.Assist NYSDOT with identifying, troubleshooting, and documenting device failures, establish repair priorities, and issue work orders for repairs of failed devices.Receive and respond to notice of roadwork, highway incidents, special event information, incidents and/or situations affecting the Department, requests for assistance (NYSDOT and other), or reports regarding the malfunction or concern for any State-owned equipment, infrastructure or asset.Answer phone inquiries and coordinate the Department's response with operational partners and provide them with information on roadway conditions.Respond to inquiries about TMC/ITS operations as directed by the State.Inquiry responses may involve email transmittal's, telephone conversations, providing supporting data for evaluation and use by the State, preparation of reports, accommodation of visitors, providing tours at the center, and meetings at locations away from the TMCs.Perform backups of ITS software, archive data records, and generate reports from archived data.Who You AreRequired QualificationsAssociate degree or higher OR 0-2years of part-time employment working in a 24/7/365 Operations CenterOral and written communication computerSoftware including: MS Office applications and spreadsheetsCapable of working well with co-workers and NYSDOT staffMust have the ability to use digital roadway maps and have a working knowledge of roadway elementsAble to maintain significant schedule flexibility to ensure consistency of HVTMC operationsExercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and proceduresProven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policiesWSP Benefits:WSP provides a comprehensive suite of benefits focused on a providing health and financial stability throughout the employee’s career.
