Your Key Responsibilities

  • This position is an external client facing position with our Management Consulting Team.
  • As a Project Manager within the Management Consulting Team, you will be supporting asset, organizational, financial, infrastructure funding, economic, and technology consulting services to local governments and utilities in North America.
  • The successful candidate will:
    • Develop quantitative models and work products, with limited oversight, to support client business challenges across multiple industries for a variety of highly complex issues; as well as direct and train junior staff in these areas.
    • Serve as a primary member of multiple teams at client meetings, including interactive use of analytical tools and facilitating workshops; as well as direct and train junior staff in these areas.
    • Work dynamically with project teams to identify best-fit solutions to complex business, strategic, infrastructure, and operational issues, that involve elevated risk.
    • Lead the project team in interactive meetings with our clients to identify and analyze issues affecting their organizations and key stakeholders.
    • Maintain and grow client relationships and lead business development efforts in responding to client requests, RFQs, and RFPs.
    • Serve as an independent reviewer of analysis prepared by peers or junior staff to ensure technical accuracy and appropriateness of methods and tools being utilized as well as solutions being evaluated.
    • In many cases, serve as the project manager for client engagements, ensuring delivery of high-quality services on time and within budget.
    • Meet performance goals and objectives as assigned, with respect to client-specific demands, stated delivery milestones, quality standards, project management framework, mentoring of junior staff, and all required training activities.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working with, acquiring, and analyzing large data sets.
  • Working knowledge of and interest in local government organizational structure, budgeting / reporting, infrastructure funding, and types of services they provide is required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel including quantitative modeling and analysis required.
  • Proficiency with PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat Pro and other business systems required.
  • Experience with additional data analysis tools is a plus, including but not limited to Access, Power BI/Tableau, GIS, SQL, Python, R, etc.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Capable of presenting/sharing analyses in an interactive work setting while being able to make adjustments in a live setting.
  • Self-starter capable of efficiently and proactively working independently as well as with a geographically dispersed team on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong sense of Team. Always willing to step in and take on additional responsibility for the good of the entire Team.
  • Strong attention to details as deliverables are open to public review and scrutiny.
  • Willing to travel as needed. In the first year, travel may be up to 25%. As you develop your skills for success and become a crucial part of multiple project teams, travel requirements may increase.
  • Requires a satisfactory driving record.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, mathematics, finance, economics, statistics, data science, engineering, accounting, or related fields are required. Master’s Degree is a plus.
  • Minimum 7 years total post-undergraduate working experience (but preference for 10 years) in management consulting, economics, pricing, infrastructure funding, financial analysis, and/or working for local government agencies in these areas.
    • Knowledge of and experience with accounting statements, pricing, risk, financial planning, and performance metrics/tracking.
    • Direct work experience/history with local government agencies and financial statements.
    • Elements of project management experience, including preparing and managing project scope, schedule, team activities, communication, and deliverables.
