Job Summary

The VP State Government Affairs is responsible for state governmental policy and advocacy matters for MEMBERS ONLY 's West Division. The position develops and implements legislative and state administration strategies, monitors legislation, coordinates state association management, key contacts programs, training, compliance, and assists in facilitation of state government-facing business initiatives. Oversees corporate initiatives and works with local and federal government affairs to coordinate community affairs activities.

Job Description

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Responsible for relations with state governments, including advocacy before the legislature, executive branch, and state agencies.
2. Work as a strategic partner with Corporate, Division and Region senior management team to accomplish business goals of the organization.
3. Identify state administrative and legislative issues that impact MEMBERS ONLY 's internal business partners, develop relationships and work with internal subject matter experts to achieve successful outcomes.
4. Provide guidance and support at all management levels to ensure consistent and sound state government policy and enhance communication with state officials.
5. Draft, analyze and/or present legislation, amendments, and testimony as necessary.
6. Oversees campaign finance and Political Action Committee activity/programs.
7. Develop and maintain relationships with government representatives and regulators at the state level. Travel to attend meetings, hearings, conferences or other events to represent the company.
8. Coordinate with Regional Government Affairs team on community investment programs.
9. Manage outside counsel, consultants, and lobbyists to implement strategies and initiatives.
10. Consult and coordinate with business units on state procurement opportunities.
11. Provide leadership and supervision to a team as well as state cable associations - including staffing, performance management, compensation administration, office management, etc.
12. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

1. Minimum 7 years of progressively responsible experience in all aspects of Government Affairs related disciplines working with legislators and/or government, 15 years minimum professional experience.
2. Must possess excellent organizational skills and sound verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking and presentation skills.

EDUCATION LEVEL

1. Bachelor's Degree in Communications or Government, or related discipline; law or related advanced degree preferred.

Salary:

Pay Range: $221,933.45 - $332,900.17
MEMBERS ONLY intends to offer the selected candidate base pay within this range, dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience. Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that MEMBERS ONLY provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work. Most sales positions are eligible for a Commission under the terms of an applicable plan, while most non-sales positions are eligible for a Bonus.
