Public Accounting - Tax Manager
Background

Are you a CPA? Do you see the financial world as a three-dimensional chess game, where technical abilities , a broad perspective , and thoughtful problem-solving can fuel incredibly beneficial client outcomes?

If so (for the love of all things good and true!), read on.

Freidel & Associates, LLC is a growing CPA firm with 20+ Team Members and is an exciting place to work. We're based in Rapid City, SD, and serve clients in 40 of the United States and 20 countries Worldwide.

We are looking for a talented tax practice team member, and would love to connect.

Character comes first - our firm emphasizes integrity and transparency, which is a must for any candidate.

Our practice is heavily tax-oriented and is known for technical expertise in diverse and complex matters, including business structuring, mergers & acquisitions, international tax, state & local tax, and estate planning. This expertise is combined with a collaborative holistic planning perspective, making sure that business, tax, financial, and estate planning objectives are all thoughtfully integrated.

This position will be a salaried full-time position. We are open to relocations for the right fit - the Black Hills of South Dakota are an incredible place to live for epic outdoors activities, playing "tourist", or general sightseeing!

Our work covers a broad spectrum of due dates and is approximately 70% planning, so we don’t have a typical January – April work concentration typical in the taxation field. This role will likely be more compliance focused, depending on the skill set of the applicant. Our work is fairly steady throughout the year, with bursts of energy expended as large transactions, projects, and deadlines come and go.

This position would be a perfect opportunity for a CPA with public accounting experience who desires more of pseudo-Private Accounting, in-depth advisory relationships with entrepreneurs and clients, offering white glove service and supplying them with the information and support they need to run their various enterprises effectively.

The environment is fast paced, with a wide spectrum of clients and project types, including very large and complex engagements with sophisticated clients. We are looking for someone to grow with our fast-growing business, with opportunities to learn and be mentored, and grow as a professional.

Responsibilities:

  • Review income tax returns and supporting records and workpapers
  • Perform and review technical tax research
  • Manage client relationships and mentor staff

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in public accounting required, with 4+ years of experience targeted
  • Bachelor's Degree required, CPA required, MST or LLM in Taxation a strong plus
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Experience with CCH Axcess a plus
  • Self-motivated and flexible
  • Good at prioritizing and juggling a multitude of diverse tasks
  • Detail and deadline-oriented
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Compensation:

Compensation to be commensurate with skills and experience.
