SFI is looking to hire a junior to mid-level Project Accountant. This position will report to the Program Management Office (PMO) and will be matrixed to at least three of our major contracts as the Project Accountant with responsibility for all financial data on the program. This position is Hybrid in Bethesda, MD.
The Project Accountant will interface with management to create forecasts, track actuals, and report the financial status of the program. The Project Accountant will work closely with the Project Managers to develop Task Order baselines, Estimates-to-Complete, Estimates-at-Completion, monthly financial status reports, trend analysis, and required corrective action plans.

Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Accounting, Business, Finance, or equivalent experience
  • 1+ years of related experience
  • Experience with principles of Program Finance, Financial Reporting, and Contract Administration
  • Experience in forecasting
  • Experience in job costing, billing, expenses and revenue recognition
  • Experience with advanced Excel features and pivot tables
  • Self-motivated and able to work cross functionally with little supervision
  • Good verbal, written, and interpersonal skills required.
  • Well organized and detail-oriented
  • Strong work ethic, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of Federal Acquisition Regulations, contracting vehicles, and cost allowability a plus
  • Experience analyzing large government and/or commercial contracts a plus
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Develop forecast files for the assigned contracts
  • Create timely and accurate monthly invoices
  • Track funding and period of performance data
  • Perform review and approval of subcontractor invoices
  • Work closely with the Accounting, PMO, and Contracts organizations to assess profitability and financial impacts on programs
  • Interface with customers (if necessary) to deliver and explain financial information
