Job Summary

NAPA distributes automotive replacement parts, accessory items and service items throughout the domestic United States primarily under the NAPA brand. The Accounting Director - Sales is responsible for supporting the Sales organization with oversight of sales incentives and customer rebate programs, accounting for customer contractual obligations and partnering with shared services on accounts receivables terms and collections. NAPA is seeking an experienced and analytical Director with strong business acumen and leadership skills to support our sales functions and improve business performance. This position reports to the VP of Finance and leads a team of approximately 7.


Responsibilities

  1. Monitor NAPA’s customer accounts receivable accounts and information.
  2. Lead discussions with various groups on the status of outstanding customer account information, provide recommendations on payment terms changes and reserves, and provide periodic management reporting.
  3. Protect assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls including timely customer account reviews and payment terms changes.
  4. Oversee calculation, payment and billing of all customer rebate programs. Provide reporting of these programs highlighting trends and net impact.
  5. Advise and guide sales management on establishing favorable financial terms and contractual obligations with customers.
  6. Strategically partner with sales management to meet company objectives, develop company controls, and control costs.
  7. Responsible for proper timing and application of revenue recognition rules. This currently entails a real-time review of contracts and policies for changes needed and determination of proper timing of revenue recognition. Involves significant interaction with Sales and Customer Service groups.
  8. Provide status of Accounts Receivable financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data.
  9. Provide business support to sales organization and advise on accounting policies and business transactions.
  10. Assess current operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes.
  11. Develop and lead team by recruiting, training, and retaining skilled employees.
  12. Grow and develop team by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  2. Professional accreditation such as certified public accountant (CPA), certified management accountant (CMA), or chartered global management accountant (CGMA)
  3. 8+ years of accounting leadership experience
  4. Advanced Excel and MS Office proficiency / Tech-savvy
  5. Strong communication and leadership skills to collaborate with multiple groups and serve as trusted business advisor
  6. Analytical, detail-oriented, and self-driven
