Duties and Responsibilities

Job Description: An Electronic Technician I (ET I) provides technical support required to maintain simulators and related training devices. An ET I shall have demonstrated competence through satisfactory progressive performance as an electronic technician. An ET I is fully qualified, trained, and knowledgeable in the support, maintenance, and operation of training devices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Apply basic knowledge and experience to solve training device problems, including those that are typically able to be solved solely by reference to maintenance manuals or similar documents
  • Proficiently use and operate test equipment to perform pre-and post-operational tests on installed equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance using preventative maintenance cards and instruction books
  • Document discrepancies using reporting forms
  • Diagnose and isolate malfunctions in electronic systems
  • Align, adjust, and calibrate installed training devices
  • Interpret mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic schematics and prepare simplified versions
  • Perform calibrations, adjustments, and tests on electronic equipment
  • Analyze operation, verify discrepancies, isolate malfunctions, and replace defective components used in installed devices
  • Use diagnostic programs, interpret results, and use program listings to isolate faults
  • Repair micro/miniature printed circuit boards, electro/mechanical systems, electronic control loading systems, and computer-generated sound systems
  • Perform daily system readiness tests and pre-operational and post-operational checkouts
  • Work effectively and productively in a team environment
  • Work independently, with normal supervision
  • Communicate effectively and exhibit interpersonal skills
  • Proficiently utilize Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Other duties and requirements as identified and/or prescribed to meet program requirements
Education and Experience
Minimum Requirements:
  • Minimum two (2) years electronic maintenance experience or graduation from a two (2) year electronic technician resident course at an accredited technical institute. Electronic maintenance experience and education may be substituted for the above requirements if deemed equivalent by the Government.
Of the two (2) years requisite repair experience, an ET I shall have demonstrated experience and competence in at least four (4) of the following areas:
  • Computer system interfaces
  • Video display systems
  • Digital-to-analog conversion
  • Acoustic simulation
  • Digital interface experience
  • High-density cable and plug repair
  • High-frequency and ultra-high-frequency transceiver operation & repair
Additionally, the Electronic Technician shall have demonstrated experience and competence in at least three (3) of the following areas:
  • Solid-state power supplies
  • High voltage deflection amplifiers repair
  • Magnetic tape drive repair
  • High-frequency transmitter repair
  • Computer output ports, serial and parallel
  • Sonar repair experience
  • Laser disk player experience
  • Performing preventative and corrective maintenance on TS/EOther requirements as assigned and/ or prescribed in the (your) site-specific appendices.

Language Skills
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex word and technical documents/diagrams.
Must be able to effectively communicate orally and in writing and work effectively as part of a team.
Reasoning Ability and Mathematical Skills
Must be able to analyze problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. An ability to interpret complex customer requirements and attitudes from verbal, non-verbal, and written communication is desirable. Must be able to calculate figures and numbers, and percentages and be able to draw and interpret graphs. Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and drawings.

Must be able to perform Domestic and International travel as required. Shop floor environment. Will be working in areas with risk of injury from electrical applications, moving mechanical parts, hydraulic, or pneumatic systems under pressure, and electrical motion systems. May be exposed to conditions of extreme heat, airborne particles, and loud noises.

Security Responsibilities
Obtain and maintain (if required) a DoD Personnel Security Clearance. Must comply with all company Information Systems security policies and procedures. May be responsible for proper classification and marking of all information and materials. Employee shall not divulge any information or afford access to other employees not having a need-to-know authorization. Shall not divulge information outside the company without management approval. Will be required to execute company non-disclosure agreement prior to access to any controlled information.
