Asset Management Consulting Department Manager

POWER’s Digital Utility Business Unit is seeking a Department Manager to lead our team of Asset Management Consultants as we continue building the digital utility of the future! The Digital Utility Business Unit is part of our Advanced Utility Solutions professional services division that primarily focuses on system and software implementation for the Utility industry. This position reports to the Digital Utility Business Unit Director and works closely with managers of other AUS departments. We are looking for servant-oriented leaders to help develop our staff, lead our growth strategies, and support our growing backlog of projects and initiatives.

The selected individual may be able to work remotely or out of one of our many office locations.

Summary of Roles and Responsibilities:

  • The Asset Management Department Manager will have the following roles and responsibilities:
    • Lead and manage a department performing asset management consulting and software implementation by:
    • Adherence to and enforcement of POWER processes and procedures within the department
    • Being accountable for all work performed and executed within the department.
    • Winning and executing work in the asset management market
    • Maintaining healthy employee morale
    • Resolving personnel issues in a fair and timely manner
    • Manage the day-to-day operational activities for the department.
    • Cultivate staff to be team-oriented, collaborative, and productive.
    • Plan and coordinate staff assignments, project resourcing, department workload, and workflows.
    • Audit projects and project lifecycle procedures within the department.
  • Managing staff performance:
    • Recruit, train, mentor, and develop diverse staff to the expectation of high performing professionals
    • Monitor employee performance, set goals and expectations, and provide coaching and feedback to improve individual and team performance.
    • Track, monitor and report personnel development and performance through POWER’s appraisal process.
    • Participate in succession and career development planning.
      • Develop technical and organizational strategies for asset management consulting and software implementation by:
      • Participation in corporate Knowledge Management Program (KMP) activities
      • Leading or managing the KMP / Subject Matter Team (SMT) for the department
  • Build and expand asset management consulting business:
    • Develop and execute annual business plans, strategies, policies, and procedures for the department in coordination and collaboration with your peers across AUS.
    • Track, monitor and report the department’s performance against the business plan and goals.
    • Assist in the development and execution of marketing strategies and business development efforts.
  • Required Education/Experience:

    • Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in GIS, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Management, other technical science degree, or equivalent work experience.
    • 10+ years of experience implementing GIS-centric solutions either as a professional services consultant or as an employee of a utility company or city/county government.
    • Must have demonstrated success at leading teams for the success of the company and employees.
    • Must have professional, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
    • Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Requires strong time management skills including the ability to multi-task on various priorities.
    • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.

    Desired Education/Experience:

    • Professional asset management or maintenance & reliability certifications (IAM, CRMP)
    • Familiarity with the work processes of electric, gas and water utilities and public works departments
    • Project implementation lifecycle experience (Requirements, Development, Training, Deployment)
    • Experience with one or more Asset Management systems such as Cityworks (Trimble Unity), SAP, Maximo, Lucity, Infor, Cartegraph
    • Experience with one or more permitting systems such as Cityworks (Trimble Unity), Accela, CityView, EnerGov, TRAKiT
    • Systems architecture experience, including design, planning, implementation
    • Experience with Vendor Negotiations / Contracts

    Salary DOE: The pay range for this position is $100K - $160K per year; however, base pay may be higher or lower depending on the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This figure does not include additional compensation such as health benefits, vacation, 401k, etc.
