Association Associate Executive Director Position – Mid Level

Miller Wenhold Association Management – – is an association management firm located in Fairfax, Virginia. Our clients are trade associations and non-profits.

MWAM seeks a mid-level Client Account Executive to serve as the organization’s Associate Executive Director.

The AED will be responsible for developing and carrying out all marketing, communications, and membership recruitment duties for our clients. The primary responsibility is to create and execute lead generation for the associations managed by MWAM. The candidate must be able to communicate through multiple forms of media, including oral and written communication, and meet multiple deadlines.

MWAM offers a pleasant work-life balance office in Fairfax City, Virginia. This is a full-time position. The position requires a well-organized, motivated, self-starter who works with little oversight or supervision, is dependable, has a cheerful personality, is well organized, and pays attention to detail. This is not a virtual position. The person must be willing to work in the Fairfax office location.

The successful candidate will:

  1. Assist in handling day-to-day operations of the association;
  2. Work with the appropriate committees to organize, implement, and oversee annual meetings of 300-500 people each year;
  3. Update membership data, run membership reports, and manage member profiles;
  4. Organize and run all executive, board, and committee calls and in-person meetings;
  5. Assist in developing and implementing membership recruitment and corporate partner programs;
  6. Monitor trends in the client fields (industries, professions) and formulate branding and messaging strategies considering competitive analyses, market needs, and new market opportunities;
  7. Assist in managing and preparing all public relations and social media content. Expand and build social media awareness and followers through professional trade media and other means;
  8. Assist in creating client monthly newsletters;
  9. Assist in updating client websites;
  10. Manage relationships with clients;
  11. Create and prepare creative marketing materials and web content that supports marketing efforts.

Qualifications:

  1. 3-5 years of experience in association management, public relations, marketing, or communications;
  2. Excellent communication skills – both oral and written;
  3. Ability to manage internal/external expectations and meet deadlines;
  4. Working knowledge of social media platforms (Constant Contact, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn);
  5. Excellent working knowledge of Your Membership;
  6. Excellent working knowledge of MS Office (Publisher, Excel, Word);
  7. Excellent working knowledge of the Wix web platform;
  8. Excellent working knowledge of Canva;
  9. Knowledge of Apricot and Your Membership platforms;
  10. Basic knowledge of IT to serve as liaison to outside IT, web host, and related support firms;
  11. B.A. or B.S. in Meeting Planning, Association Management, Marketing, Communications, or a related field, or commensurate experience;
  12. Provide writing and marketing samples.
