MECHANICAL RETROFIT DEPARTMENT MANAGER

COMPANY OVERVIEW
Headquartered in Greensboro, North Carolina, our client is a leader in heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), and Controls products, systems, parts, and services for commercial buildings. They are currently seeking a Mechanical Retrofit Department Manager who oversees the day-to-day activities for all the Mechanical Retrofit Projects across the state of North Carolina. This includes planning, project coordination, and overseeing projects to ensure they are completed on schedule and within budget.

WHAT MAKES YOU A GOOD FIT?

  • 5+ Years of HVAC Estimating / Project Management Experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management or related fields.
  • Excellent ability in Office, Excel, Word, etc.
  • Experience in a variety of project types, commercial building projects, including higher education, healthcare, etc.
  • OSHA – 10 card holder.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Ability to travel to various job sites across the state of NC.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Employee Management:

  • Manage the employee review process for all retrofit field employees to include supervision.
  • Direct and support field project managers with disciplinary actions with field employees.
  • Responsible for accurately reporting quarterly bonus to all field employees including field supervision.
  • Review project labor bonus with all field crew leaders and supervision.

Project Management:

  • Proactively plan, resolve issues, and ensure contractual conditions are met on all projects.
  • Review all estimates on sold projects to assure equipment information, materials, and labor are correct.
  • Coordinates a proper turnover. Schedule a meeting with the designated PM to review the project and start the installation.
  • Assist and cooperate with all PM’s and Field Crew Leaders in maintaining good subcontractor relations and activities, as well as other areas requiring coordination between field and office.
  • Follow job specifications as it was sold – any changes must be approved by Sales or Chief Engineer.
  • Visit job sites periodically to ensure proper workmanship, clean work sites and customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee and direct scheduling, procurement of material, manpower and equipment from job conception to completion.
  • Assure proper documents such as startup sheets and required commissioning of equipment are provided and installed in ServMan.
  • Review, approve and process all subcontractor and supplier invoices.
  • Submit and obtain approval of billing schedule of values.
  • To submit all job and project billing on time and maintaining an over billed cash position.
  • Manage all shop drawings and correct red line drawings.
  • Manage the job change order process in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate material deliveries and subcontract work in accordance with progress schedule and adjust as necessary due to changes.
  • Manage and prepare a weekly and daily schedule in ServMan for all Field Crews
  • Manage and work with the Administrative Coordinator, all field crew leaders, field supervisors and Chief Engineer in maintaining a harmonious working environment.

Department Financial Performance

  • Responsible for overall department financial performance of all assigned projects, including continual cost control, management and forecasting.
  • Responsible for overall department budgets.
  • Use company reports such as (Comm. Open Job WIP Analysis) to measure performance of projects. Job Labor Forecaster can be used to forecast labor.

Safety

  • Collaborate with the Safety Manager to analyze, manage, and mitigate project risks, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

This position is based in either Greensboro, Raleigh, or Durham, NC. and is available for immediate hire.
