About the Job

We are currently seeking a Business Banking Officer to join our team in Commercial Lending. This position is responsible for acquiring, managing, and retaining a portfolio of 75-100 business clients with annual revenues typically

In this position you will:

  • Acquires, deepens, and retains business banking relationships (new and existing) with a focus on core deposit growth and small business lending opportunities.
  • Works closely with retail bankers and commercial lenders to uncover the banking needs of business customers, to cross sell business products and services to meet those financial needs, and to identify viable solutions when challenges/problems arise.
  • Develops and executes sales presentations for customers/prospects to include formal written and oral presentations in response to requests for proposal, as well as in the regular course of business.
  • Use knowledge of business, finance, banking, credit, and risk management to identify, recommend, and promote solutions that best serve the client and ensure the profitability of the portfolio.
  • Leverages knowledge of credit to advise small business owners on solutions, services, and digital capabilities that help them meet their short term and long-term business goals.
  • Makes cold calls to prospective customers, generates prospect lists, and cultivates referral sources with COI's, retail branch partners and commercial lenders.
  • Provides ongoing support to retail team members within an assigned region to cultivate new business opportunities.
  • Executes all sales-related activities and tracks that activity in the Bank's customer relationship management system.
  • Attends networking events to build business, which may require after hour attendance.
  • Creates a partnership with the internal and external community, promoting a positive image of the company.
  • Supports the onboarding of business customers into the various loan and deposit related products and services.
  • Effectively manages the daily requirements of an assigned customer portfolio.
  • Prepares business prospect proposals and term sheets.
  • Supports rollout of new business banking products and services.
  • Monitors small business portfolio to ensure conformity with terms, proper risk ratings and early identification of potential problems. Ensures timely submission and review of financial information, loan documentation, and other submissions. Proactively notifies management of credit deterioration and ensures all action items are executed in a timely manner.
  • Remains current on all industry issues and regulations applicable to the duties of the position.

What we are looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Finance preferred or equivalent experience.
  • 5-7 years of banking experience to include experience working with business customers.
  • Excellent customer service and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong sales/business development and customer service skills.
  • Basic small business credit skills with good analytical abilities.
  • Effective problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills.
  • Working knowledge of personal computers, office software and other office equipment.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals, general business correspondence, and/or journals, or government regulations.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret financial reports and/or legal documents.
  • Ability to write routine reports and business correspondence.
  • Ability to respond in writing to customer complaints, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients, customers, and the general public.

WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to remain in a standing position for long periods of time (50% of the time)
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Ability to travel to other locations based on business need.
  • Ability to work a schedule that includes after hours events and flexibility during the week.
