Senior Tax Manager - Real Estate

LaSalle Network has partnered with a leading real estate investment firm based in Chicago, specializing in multifamily and hospitality properties. Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Tax Manager - Real Estate to join their growing team and lead tax strategy and compliance efforts. This role will be in their office 5 days a week and is budgeted flexibly up to $220,000 with additional bonus eligibility.
Our client is looking for a skilled Senior Tax Manager - Real Estate with a strong background in REIT taxation or public accounting, preferably with a focus on real estate. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing our client's tax function, ensuring compliance and optimizing tax strategy.
Senior Tax Manager - Real Estate Responsibilities:

• Oversee all aspects of the firm's tax function, including planning, compliance and reporting
• Manage federal, state and local tax compliance for the firm and its investment entities
• Develop and implement tax strategies to optimize the firm's tax position
• Provide tax guidance on complex real estate transactions and investment structures
• Collaborate with external advisors and auditors on tax matters
• Stay current with tax laws and regulations, particularly those affecting REITs and real estate investments
• Prepare and review tax provisions for financial statements
• Manage and mentor junior tax team members
• Assist in due diligence processes for potential acquisitions and dispositions
• Communicate tax matters to senior management and investors

Senior Tax Manager - Real Estate Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; Master's in Taxation preferred
• CPA license required
• 8+ years of progressive tax experience, with a focus on real estate and/or REITs
• Strong knowledge of federal, state and local tax laws affecting real estate investments
• Experience with either REIT taxation and compliance, or public accounting background with a focus on real estate clients
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong leadership and team management abilities
• Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and tax preparation software
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with partnership taxation and complex real estate structures preferred

• Familiarity with international tax issues related to real estate investments preferred
• Knowledge of tax technology and process improvement methodologies preferred
