The Loyola University Health System (LUHS) and the Loyola University Chicago (LUC) Stritch School of Medicine in partnership with Hines VA Hospital (HVA) are offering a full-time faculty position on the clinical educator track (CET) for a Board Certified or Board Eligible Ophthalmologist. The successful candidate must demonstrate strong interest and prior commitment to clinical and/or basic science research. Candidates should have a history of outstanding clinical care and a strong academic commitment to the clinical training of residents and medical students. Cornea fellowship training is preferred. Salary and academic rank will be commensurate with training and experience.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing clinical care and mentorship to residents and medical students.
- Engaging in clinical and/or basic science research.
- Participating in residency training programs.
Currently, the Loyola Department of Ophthalmology (Maywood and 4 additional satellite offices) and neighboring Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital manage over 65,000 patient visits per year. Currently, 42 clinical faculty (18 full-time and 24 part-time) provide strong mentorship and outstanding clinical expertise in all the subspecialties. A dedicated resident education team including the Program Director, the Vice Chair of Education, the Residency Coordinator, and 2 co-Chief Residents manage the residency training program of four residents per year. We also have a world-class VR Simulation program for training ophthalmology residents, medical students, as well as residents in other subspecialties.
